I'm Still Here...

Daisies From Last Summer

I'm sorry for another tardy submission. Here's the skinny on my day yesterday. Let me begin by saying if anyone ever offers you a recreational "EMG", please feel free to turn it down. I'm glad I didn't do any internet research prior to the procedure, because it wasn't fun.

I'm not afraid of needles unless they're the huge, hollow type, so that wasn't the issue. The needles involved were comparable to those used in acupuncture - which I found helpful and quite enjoyed when we lived in Florida. However, they were soon attached to electrodes to ascertain whether or not I had nerve damage in my left knee.

Each time the doctor engaged the electricity, I flopped around like a fish out of water. I tolerated that well until he got to the area where I injured myself. I ended up in tears. The great news is that there is no nerve damage. This doctor suspects soft tissue damage, which aligns with the orthopedic doctor's suspicion of a torn meniscus. That will be confirmed (or denied) when I have the MRI on the 10th.

Once it was all over, my dear husband helped me back into my sweats (I had to wear shorts for the procedure), and he took me home.

We walked in the back door to the farmhouse around 9:15 am, I took two (dr. approved) Tylenol; went upstair;, changed clothes and went to bed. I nearly instantly fell asleep and didn't move until around 1:30 pm.

My gallant white knight stayed close while I showered, and then helped me put on my socks (I could handle the rest of my clothes), and I got dressed for my three-hour shift feeling 1000% better. He even made ham and eggs with toast for me so I'd have some nourishment before going to work. Two more Tylenol and it was off to the store.

He was there right on time to bring me home, and I had two fish dinners in tow so neither of us would need to cook. After dinner, I went back upstairs to bed, watched a little television and went to sleep. Just what this body needed after a strenuous appointment.

I'm feeling so much better today, so I'm not going to overdo anything. I'm planning to sit in the living room and make a few more spoolies. Your suggestions here and in the Brynwood Needleworks Facebook group have been written down, and I'll work through the list. I'll share my completed critters on Monday.

I hope you have a restful, peaceful, love-filled weekend. Of one thing I'm absolutely sure...Love is best shown when someone you care for needs it most. It's shown through unselfish acts of kindness and concern. How you treat them (or are treated) exemplifies the depth of affection. Handsome shows me every day just how much he loves me. I pray every day to be equal to it.

Thank you to everyone who left comments yesterday. You shared your concern for me, and I'm so grateful.

See you Monday!

  1. I googled EMG. It made me think of old movies with mad scientists. Glad you are home safe and sound!

Yep. Fun times. (Not really). I'm feeling much better following a long sleep and some Tylenol. Handsome is taking great care of me and making sure I don't overdo. Thanks, dear.

    1. Hi Sherry:
The MRI I've had before, but not the EMG. I'll be sure to avoid those in the future. We'll have answers soon enough, and thankfully, I'm feeling better because of Tylenol. Handsome is the best. Thank you so much, sweet friend.

  3. Oh boy, my husband's doctor was pushing for EMG to confirm his ALS. They said 'it would be a little uncomfortable.' Really?? I have absolutely no medical background and I had already confirmed that it was ALS. So, no thank you EMG.
After your MRI you will be headed in the right direction to get relief.
When I read that you were getting ready for your three hour shift, I thought, oh dear Lord, the
electricity got to her brain. You are one tough cookie.
Sounds like you have a perfect weekend planned.
My husband and Handsome could have been brothers because of the gallant white knight traits. I always called him my Hero, he was my Blue Jay, always on alert to make sure all was
well with me. Now he is my Cardinal.
Sending you good healing thoughts and prayers always.

    1. Hi Shirley:
I'm really glad I didn't know better before this one, because tension may have made it worse...if that's even possible. MRI on Wednesday, and then we'll know for sure what's up. Yes, Handsome agrees with you about the brain shock. He really wanted me to call in, but I didn't feel right doing that. Put on the BG panties and did what had to be done....after a long nap. I actually just read the white knight part to Handsome, and my voice caught when I read "cardinal". Big hugs, girlfriend.
Thank you always for your prayers.
      Much love,
      xoxo

  4. Oh wow - that doesn't sound like it was the least bit of fun, ungodly hour in the morning notwithstanding. You, woman, are a wonder for going to work after all that trauma. Thank goodness Handsome is there to give you the TLC you deserve after all that.

    1. Hi MA:
Not fun at all, but I'm sure there are tests that are even less pleasant. I'll count my blessings. I usually get up at the crack of 8, so the early hour wasn't fun either. I went to work because I know I have some medical days off in my future, and because I never want to leave my boss or coworkers hanging. I got my rest once I finished my shift. You're right. Handsome takes great care of me and makes sure I behave. Thanks for your concern, dear.

  5. I'm sorry your procedure wasn't food.
I can't believe you went to work after!
    Please rest this weekend.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
No fun at all. Handsome was a little miffed that I wouldn't call in, but I actually really like my Friday phone duty, and look forward to it each week. I mostly sat down and answered calls. I also didn't do a darn thing (except hand work) all weekend. Thanks for your concern, dear.
