Pumpkin and Answered Prayers...

I had to try a new recipe Saturday night. Handsome had listened to this program on National Public Radio. He came home and told me that he thought we ought to try making our own version of stuffed pumpkin.

The one I made was stuffed with grated gruyere cheese, cubed French bread, finely-diced sweet onion, cream, a bit of freshly grated nutmeg, salt and pepper. We agreed that, even though it was good, it needed a kick. Next time, I'm going to add sauteed Italian sausage and a little fennel. Perhaps I'll add it to our usual Thanksgiving menu.

If you click on the link and try your own recipe, I'd love to know what you use and how you like it!
(Sorry for the blurriness, but I didn't want to
distract the pups when I took these photos.)

Kes is home from the doggie hospital. She's sore and shouldn't be harrassed by boisterous puppies, so she has private day quarters. At night, when Fez is in his kennel, she still sleeps next to my side of the bed and gets lots of one-on-one attention.
That doesn't keep Fezzik from worrying about her and trying to keep her company. He was so sweet when he saw her. He's as glad as we are that Kessie is back home. The place just wasn't the same without her. Our prayers this week were definitely answered.

Wishing all of you a blessed Sunday.

  3. I'm so glad Kessie is home with you and is doing better. I know how frightening it can be to have one of "the kids" be at the vet. I always wish that my animals could talk, and especially so when they're not feeling well so they could tell me what was wrong... Of course in Kessie's case, she just showed you. Rocks?? Yucky.

Your picture of Fezzie keeping Kess company is the sweetest thing ever. Aww, buddies! Gotta love it.

  7. I'm so glad that Kes is on the road to mending. Did she need surgery? Poor little Fez, so worried about his bestest friend and happy she's home. I love how he is sprawled out in front of the gate. (If he had a tail, you would see it wagging!) :)

  12. Oh how wonderful that Kessie is home, and Fezzik is letting her know how much she was missed, and keeping her company. Yes, ditto on the pic being just too cute and so very special-a heart tugger for sure. Of course I don't need to say it, but you have two very special loved ones there. ;o) A continued gentle recovery Kessie & enjoy the TLC.

  19. Send me that pumpkin recipe! Yummy!

So glad precious girl is home! Fezzie looks so adorable with those feet out talking to her.

In my mind, this is what he is saying. "Kessie, I'm so glad you are home! I missed you! Did it hurt really bad? Did you get any treats? Mom said you are a ding dong for eating rocks. Why did you eat rocks? Do rocks taste good? Will you eat them again? Did it hurt when the other rocks came out your butt? I thought about eating rocks, but I don't think I will now. When's mom letting you out of here so we can go play? Did you get any treats?"

    hee,hee,hee.

  20. What a decadent pumpkin treat! Thanks for sharing what you made. That last little photo tugged at my heartstrings. It's amazing how pups can be so intuitive when someone they love is in pain. What a precious baby boy!
