I had to try a new recipe Saturday night. Handsome had listened to this program on National Public Radio. He came home and told me that he thought we ought to try making our own version of stuffed pumpkin.
The one I made was stuffed with grated gruyere cheese, cubed French bread, finely-diced sweet onion, cream, a bit of freshly grated nutmeg, salt and pepper. We agreed that, even though it was good, it needed a kick. Next time, I'm going to add sauteed Italian sausage and a little fennel. Perhaps I'll add it to our usual Thanksgiving menu.
If you click on the link and try your own recipe, I'd love to know what you use and how you like it!
Kes is home from the doggie hospital. She's sore and shouldn't be harrassed by boisterous puppies, so she has private day quarters. At night, when Fez is in his kennel, she still sleeps next to my side of the bed and gets lots of one-on-one attention.
That doesn't keep Fezzik from worrying about her and trying to keep her company. He was so sweet when he saw her. He's as glad as we are that Kessie is back home. The place just wasn't the same without her. Our prayers this week were definitely answered.
Wishing all of you a blessed Sunday.
Hope Kessie is feeling better, she's a real trooper. I really enjoyed Fezzie's post yesterday. Who could not just melt at that little cutie.
ReplyDeleteDonna, your pumpkin recipe looks and sounds amazing! It was COLD up here today, it would have been sooo yummy!
xo,
Debra
Donna, I'm so happy to see that Kessie is back home with you and on the mend.

I'm so glad Kessie is home with you and is doing better. I know how frightening it can be to have one of "the kids" be at the vet. I always wish that my animals could talk, and especially so when they're not feeling well so they could tell me what was wrong... Of course in Kessie's case, she just showed you. Rocks?? Yucky.
ReplyDeleteYour picture of Fezzie keeping Kess company is the sweetest thing ever. Aww, buddies! Gotta love it.
Donna, I am so glad Kes is back home. Continued prayers for her health and vitality. That is such a cute picture of Fezzie. Love the legs! Have a wonderful Sunday! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you that Kes is home! I hope she will recover very quickly but with all the attention and love you are giving her that must be going quick!
ReplyDeleteThe picture with Fez lying on the floor going down to her level is so sweet. Goes straight to your heart!
Hugs,
Lisette
Aw! When I seen Fez little legs like that it made me tear up....how precious is that, the love of a friend...I love this picture...hope Kes is all better real soon.....
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Kes is on the road to mending. Did she need surgery? Poor little Fez, so worried about his bestest friend and happy she's home. I love how he is sprawled out in front of the gate. (If he had a tail, you would see it wagging!) :)
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that Kessie is home and recovering.

Pupper Doggies really steal our heart, don't they? I love the photo of the two of them through the gate. Precious.
ReplyDeleteGet well wishes to Kes!
ReplyDeleteThat is just the sweetest.. The pumpkin sounds good, did it have any of the pumpkin flavor??

Oh how wonderful that Kessie is home, and Fezzik is letting her know how much she was missed, and keeping her company. Yes, ditto on the pic being just too cute and so very special-a heart tugger for sure. Of course I don't need to say it, but you have two very special loved ones there. ;o) A continued gentle recovery Kessie & enjoy the TLC.
ReplyDeleteThe stuffed pumpkin sounds delish - especially with added sausage for a kick!
ReplyDeleteI hope Kes gets feeling better soon! Hugs and Prayers! Isn't Fezzik sweet looking thru the gate!
XO, Cat

So good to hear that Kes is home and on the mend. Tried to make a comment yesterday about your sister's quilt it is simply gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday. :^)
Send me that pumpkin recipe! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad precious girl is home! Fezzie looks so adorable with those feet out talking to her.
In my mind, this is what he is saying. "Kessie, I'm so glad you are home! I missed you! Did it hurt really bad? Did you get any treats? Mom said you are a ding dong for eating rocks. Why did you eat rocks? Do rocks taste good? Will you eat them again? Did it hurt when the other rocks came out your butt? I thought about eating rocks, but I don't think I will now. When's mom letting you out of here so we can go play? Did you get any treats?"
hee,hee,hee.

What a decadent pumpkin treat! Thanks for sharing what you made. That last little photo tugged at my heartstrings. It's amazing how pups can be so intuitive when someone they love is in pain. What a precious baby boy!
