The Acorn Whisperer...

I swear, I know some of the most wonderful and generous women in Blogland! I had two sweet surprises last week.

An envelope arrived from The Netherlands, from my friend, the talented Lisette. She has a beautiful blog, Liszha's Scrappy Blog which I frequently visit. Lisette had created an adorable heart ornament with a small silver elephant button, and lovely, little flowers. It now hangs in the picture window in the studio.

I was so excited when I saw that she had also found these acorn buttons and silver charms! She said in her note that she thought of me when she saw the acorns. Really? Me? The Acorn Whisperer? I can't wait to use them on something really special.

Thank you, Lisette. A proper card is on its way, but I wanted to be sure to share your generous gifts with everyone today.
Handsome carried in the mail on Saturday and said the usual, "Now, what have you bought?". I looked at the label, and after thinking for the longest time, I said, "Honey, I don't think I ordered anything from The Scented Cottage." (yet!). I seem to remember a muffled "uh, huh" as he left the room.

I anxiously opened the box and read the note from my friend, Francie of The Scented Cottage and The Scented Cottage Studio shop (in Georgia). She must have read my recent post where I said that we don't really have autumn in south Florida. She decided to send a box full of Fall from her home to mine.

She included enough acorn ornaments to fill a basket or bowl (which are going to see lots of use for many occasions!), a small package a spicy potpourri, a beautiful squirrel - perched on a nut - tending a little votive candle, and oodles of silky fall-colored leaves. Autumn in a box!
I got out my beautiful wooden bowl - a Christmas gift from our elder son and his wife a couple of years ago - and filled it with the ornaments. I placed it in the center of my pinwheel table quilt and then added the leaves, squirrel and potpourri.

Autumn has arrived, thanks to two friends on opposite sides of the ocean. I'm humbled that they both thought of me, and am grateful from the bottom of my heart for their generosity. Thank you cards are on their way, Lisette and Francie. Hugs from Florida!!
