Winner, Winner, Chicken...Well...

Brynwood Needleworks - Embroidered Chicken and Honey Bunny Cottage Box

When artistic friends barter, it's a win/win for everyone! Such was the case when my friend, Gisselle told me she loved my recent "coop-ful" of chickens. She offered to trade one for one of her fabulous, handcrafted sewing boxes. She had recently shared photos of this one on Facebook, so I asked about it, and she said yes!

Well, getting one of her beautiful boxes warranted a little bit fancier chicken, so I got out some of my linen and white floss and set to making an embroidered one for her. Gosh! I had so much fun!!

If you're interested in owning one of Gisselle's boxes, you can find her as Honey Bunny Cottage on Facebook. She's also on Instagram @honeybunnycottage. This chick is flying away today with my thanks.

A Little Hen Pecked...

Brynwood Needleworks - Stitching A Chicken

Well, not really as much "pecked" as "stitched". lol I'm making a special chicken for my friend, Gisselle. She sent me a beautiful new needlework box, in exchange for one of my pincushion chickens. I decided to do something different for the one I'm making for her.

I intended to start this yesterday morning, and have a completed chick to share today, but Handsome asked me to go out on errands with him, and I just couldn't resist. We had a great afternoon, but alas, my project didn't get finished.

I'm going to finish this today, and then I'll show you my chick along with Gisselle's gift to me. You'll love her work. I just know it! I'm off now for a little needle dancing.

A Little Studio Fun...

Sewing Box

I just got this cool sewing box that needed a little TLC and updating...and a couple of new screws. I'm going to take a trip to the hardware store today for those screws, but I started fitting out the inside yesterday.

The box is in really great shape, so I have to decide whether or not I'm going to adhere fabric to the inside, or just place fabric in the bottom of each compartment. What would you do?

Silk Roses Pincushion

I knew I wanted a small pincushion inside, so I took an embroidery that I had doodled a while ago, and sewed a green wool back to it. Finished and filled with crushed walnut shells, it measures a sweet 3.5" x 2.5". It now fits perfectly into the small box that my friend, Gisselle made for me.

I'll keep working on this over the next few weeks because I'd like to take it with me to Kentucky for my week of stitching. Let me know if you have any good ideas for fitting it out. I'll share more photos as I progress.

Gisselle's Ruler Box And The Last Wooly Block...

Brynwood Needleworks - Brynwood Acorn Pincushion and Gisselle's Ruler Box

Perhaps you've noticed the sweet, wooden ruler box that I've been using to hold my Acorn Pincushion and embroidery threads. I actually have two of them, and will likely get more, in other sizes, in the future.

Brynwood Needleworks - Brynwood's Acorn Pincushion and Gisselle's Ruler Box

They're created by my FaceBook friend, Gisselle Sequiera from California. She first shared photos of them on her page, and I couldn't resist placing an order. I'm really glad I did! They're so darn handy, and don't we love all different sorts of containers to hold all our creative goodies?

If you're interested in having one of Gisselle's decorative boxes for your very own, you can contact her through her FaceBook page (HERE) or by emailing her directly at Gisselle.sequiera (at) gmail (dot) com. The boxes like mine are $22 each, plus $10 shipping.

Brynwood Needleworks - Wooly Critter Block Twelve - Hedgehog & Vine

I've prepared the final block of my Wooly Critter project. (Well, except that I have all the border pieces that I'll need to embroider to complete my quilt.) This one is Block Twelve, and it's called "Hedgehog & Vine". I'll be working on it this week.

I'll also be adding new items to my online shop (which is still in vacation mode until mid-week), so you might want to check it out then to see what I've listed up.

I'm back in Florida for a while. I have mandatory training this week for the upcoming election, and I'll be working as the clerk for a local precinct again. I also have annual medical appointments, and...oh, nevermind. You're not interested in all the details. Suffice it to say I'm going to be in sunny southwest Florida through Thanksgiving (and my Birthday) with Handsome before I go back to the farm.

In the meantime, I'll be receiving work updates and reports to share with you. I'm glad to say that the farmhouse will be transforming while we're here, and even more once I return. I'm looking forward to telling you all about it!

I know, already, that it's going to be a great week. What do you have planned?
