Yesterday's class was a lot of fun and my students were great. When I got
home, there was a package waiting for me from Kathy Schmitz (the designer
of those "Sweet Stitches" kits I've been working on lately), and I was excited!
I knew what was inside. I had entered and won Kathy's giveaway for her
newest fabric line for Moda called "Piecemakers". I had seen this line in
Moda's catalog a couple of weeks ago and told Kathy and Nora at Sandy's
Quilt Shop that I really loved it. Imagine my delight when Kathy Schmitz
contacted me to tell me that my name was one of those drawn to win some
of her preview assortments! I was anxious to see what she'd chosen for me.
When I opened the box, I found a layer cake and a jelly roll of this fabulous
line. Even Handsome was impressed. I did a happy dance all over our kitchen!!
I also received one of Kathy's quilt patterns..."Acorns to Oaks" and one
of her pieces of art (a heart-in-hand and tomato pincushion) mounted into a
pendant for a necklace. I'm actually going to wear that to teach today's class.
As soon as I get home today, I'll be writing a "thank you" note for Kathy's
generosity. Her new line won't be available in shops until January, so I'll
have between now and then to add to a little yardage to this assortment.
I can't wait to sew it into something truly wonderful. If you'd like to visit
checking out what's next from her creative and imaginative mind.
I know. I'm such a Lucky Girl!! I'll be back tomorrow. Gotta get to class!
