Lucky Me...

Photo from Kris' Blog: Lavender Quilts & Other Fineries

I've been blog friends with Kris Young for a long time...almost as long as I've been blogging myself. I love seeing what she's doing, and get over to her blog to visit as often as I can. Kris is the creative force behind Lavender Quilts and Other Fineries blog and designs.

On a recent visit, I saw that she'd created this lovely "I Pledge Allegiance" quilt and was having a giveaway to celebrate her new design. I left a congratulatory note for her and wished everyone good luck in the drawing.

Imagine my great surprise when I received a note from Kris to tell me I'd won! Me!!! I was so excited!

Brynwood Needleworks - Lavender Quilts "I Pledge Allegiance" Kit

My "I Pledge Allegiance" kit arrived in the mail today, all the way from the great state of Utah! I almost opened the package as I walked with the dogs back up to the house, but I waited until I got back to the studio. I danced with delight when I opened the envelope!

Look at all the gorgeous fabrics that Kris chose for her design! I think they're perfectly wonderful and will make up into a really fabulous finished quilt. I can't wait to work on it, either. I think this will be my project for Nifty 50s.

If you've never visited Kris' blog before, you really must stop in and explore. If you'd like to purchase Kris' "I Pledge Allegiance" pattern or kit, she has them available for sale in her Etsy shop HERE. She has lots of other beautiful things there, too!

Thank you for my lovely, patriotic gift, dear Kris. I'm looking forward to creating your design. I'm so grateful for your generosity. Sending love and smiles from my side of this great land to yours. xoxo

Tuesdays With Tag - Walkies and A Winner...

 Hi, Everybody!
Mom and I went for a walk down our street this week.
We have new neighbors all over the place, and I'm excited
because some of them even have FOUR legs!

Our newest neighbors aren't very far away from our house. I even got
a whiff of one of them. My Corgi senses stood right up and I had
to investigate further. I cozied right up to the fence for a better look.
Can you guys see what I see?
Come on! Look closer. See the pony waaayyy back there?

Mom said that he usually hangs out loose in the front yard when she drives
by, but not this day. She said next time she sees him out she'll come back and
get me. (Of course, we're assuming it's a "him". We don't really know yet.)

She said there's another surprise in their yard, too, but you can't see it here.
She told me a goat  lives in this yard with the horse. I can't wait to sniff a goat!
We were walkin' back home when I heard someone followin' us. They
were actually sniffin' our neighbor's horse's yard! (It's ok. There's plenty
for everybody.) I turned around first, and then Mom turned around
so we could both be neighborly and say "hi". I was likin' this walk!
I decided to just sit a spell and wait for 'em to catch up. It didn't
take long 'cuz they were walkin'pretty fast! Mom took the lead and
asked all the questions while I nonchalantly exercised my nose.
Trust me. I was smoooooooth!
This pretty lady is a new neighbor on the other side of our house.
She's married to a musician Dad knows and has played with in
Port Charlotte. Her name is Suzanne and she's really sweet.

I hate to admit I was too sidetracked with sniffin' and snortin' that I
plum forgot this guy's name. He's a Sharpei that Miss Suzanne and
her husband rescued. He's still growin' into his wrinkles!

I decided to be a little cautious with him because he was still a
little "post-rescue" nervous and I really want to be friends with
him. Mom is always extra protective of me so I don't get hurt, but
we were lookin' out "extra" to make sure there were no shenanigans.
Mom and Miss Suzanne agreed that once we're better acquainted,
we can all go for walkies together! I'd like that a lot.

I really like walkies. You never know just who you'll run into!
OHHHH!
It's time to announce the winner of my Birthday Giveaway, too!!!
I may not look like it, but I'm really jumpin' up and down inside.
So, Mom let me push the button to choose the winnin' number,
and the number generator kicked out:
#20

This is the note Miss Kris left for me...
"Happy Birthday to my favorite Corgi in the whole wide world!
May you have many, many more healthy, happy birthdays! And
I like your little birthday bib, errrr I mean, bandana!! :))"
Real funny! Well, Miss Kris (anyway). You've won a $10 gift card
from Paneras and a special Corgi mug mat in your favorite colors
made just for you by MOM!
Please contact us by email PDQ to let us know your favorite color
so Mom can get crackin' on your gift. (She's got jury duty and
is teachin' classes this week, so she'll mail it out to you early
next week if you get back to us right away.) Congratulations!

Thanks to everyone for my Birthday wishes and for enterin' my first
giveaway. Next year, Mom said I can give out more prizes again.
'til then...

My Birthday Giveaway Winners...

Quite the shameless plug for Birthday wishes (writing a Birthday post), don't you agree? I told you last week that I would have a drawing, and I came up with a Surprise Birthday Drawing!
So, if you left a comment to wish me Happy Birthday, your name was automatically entered in the drawing! Genius, eh?

I have two new mug mats to give away to celebrate. The first name drawn has first choice, and the other mat will go to the second name drawn.

I bet you're wondering who won, right?
Winner Number One is:
  Lucy G. @ The Farmer's Attic
and
Winner Number Two is:

Lucy, you're first! Please send me an email to let me know which mat you'd like! Kris, please email your address and I'll send yours as soon as Lucy chooses hers.

Congratulations to both of you!

Thank you to everyone who left Birthday greetings for me. I had a wonderful day, and you were all a huge part of it. All of your comments made me smile, and I know that the next year will be wonderful because you all willed it to be so!

We didn't end up going to Ft. Myers, but Handsome and I still rolled out the Harleys and had a quiet dinner together in Nokomis, FL. It was a perfect night for a ride and a perfect Birthday, to be sure.

This week, I'll be working on Christmas gifts. I'll show tiny peeks. After all, we wouldn't want to give away any surprises, would we?
