| Adding More Lichen To My Fence Board |
Monday I canned and baked. Tuesday I stitched. I made good progress on the fence board, and added more lichen to it's surface. I'm about two thirds complete on the horizontal board now.
While the right edge appears to be the end of the board, my left side will appear to fade away. I want to show that it actually continues out of frame without actually stitching it. It will look like a jagged edge. Once the horizontal board is done, I'll do the post, finishing the bottom with the same jagged edge.
I have more apples from Dawn and Pete, plus potatoes, ground beef, hickory nut pie filling, and more peppers to can, so I'm not planning any stitching for today. I'll likely do the apples and green peppers today, as they'll spoil first if they sit too long. I'll do potatoes this or next week. I have fifty pounds of those, so it will likely be a marathon session when I get to them.
I will have another stitching day this week, so you'll definitely see more progress before long. It's a good way to rest my legs between canning sessions where I'm on my legs the entire time. I'll be sure to show you more as soon as I get it done.
I'm lichen it, too! I love that you can envision how the fence board and post will finish off and then work so carefully to make it happen. I admire your diligence at working on that fence board - it's going to be amazing! I have to admit that I would have pooped out long ago and decided the birds could sit in on a thin twig. LOL! ...probably why I won't be winning any blue ribbons... 😆😉

DeleteHee hee. I couldn't resist. Handsome said, "Aren't you ashamed of yourself for that title?" He was teasing, of course, but I said, "It almost wrote itself." lol I'll be soooo happy when the fence is done. I've found myself asking more than once, "Why did you have to draw on the fabric with permanent marker?" because I have to cover it before I can said "Done!" sigh. I laughed out loud when I read your twig comment. Believe me. I've thought about it more than once! Thanks, dear.

The lichen adds so much to the board. I'm sure you will be glad to see the end of that board because there's a ton of stitching.

DeleteThanks so much! You have no idea just how happy I'll be when it's done. Handsome said it reminds him of when I'm stitching background for needlepoint. Booooorrrrring! As I told Marilyn - this time of year I'm torn. I love seeing the pantry fill up, but I want to stitch, too. I think I've found a happy medium for now.

It's a marathon week.

DeleteAfter finishing today's project, I actually went upstairs and took a nap. Handsome and the dogs joined me, and I slept for at least an hour. It was pure, decadent (middle of the day) bliss. I'm glad your place was their shelter in the storm. They'll come back next year, I'm confident.
