I saw this online and just had to share it. This is the very essence of who I am. I'm happiest out in nature (or sitting with needlework on the farmhouse porch). One of these days I'll share photos of my shadow box frame that's filled to the brim with found feathers, eggshell remnants from an abandoned nest, a beautifully preserved dragonfly that I found in our yard, sand from a Florida beach, or small pieces of wood or fungus. It's filled with all the things mentioned in this verse!
I didn't stitch today. I was sidetracked by another project I'm doing for a friend. I'm sorting through my copious fabric collection in search of fabrics for a project she's working on. We frequently barter back and forth. She supplies me with found goldwork supplies, threads, and abandoned needlework linens. I reciprocate with fabrics, and other useful project ingredients for her.
I had a great few hours at work...seeing folks who thought I'd either quit, been fired, or heaven forbid, died. They registered their surprise, and then how happy they were to see me again. I can say, though, that by the time I clocked out, I was done in! Handsome picked me up from work, and when I got home, I went straight up the stairs, put on my sweats, and napped for an hour with my leg elevated. My ankle was a bit swollen at the start, but just a little time elevated was all I needed to get back to normal.
I work again tonight, but won't be expending too much energy before hand. I'll likely stitch a bit, and plan to do some canning tomorrow instead. Maybe I'll go outside for a while and just take a little walk around the place. I haven't done that for months, and it might be just what the doctor ordered. I'll let you know. See you tomorrow!
I also collect elements from nature, have a nest & a bunch of feathers.
ReplyDeleteI also save pumpkin stems for crafts.
When the pumpkins are done, we throw them over the back deck so that animals can enjoy them.
Glad your ankle came back to normal.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteI love the idea of saving pumpkin stems. I haven't done that before. I know our squirrels would love the pumpkins, too! Same "ankle" thing tonight. After dinner, I elevated again. I'll see the surgeon on Monday, so I'll ask him about that.
Happy Weekend!

Oh, yes, I'm a gatherer, too! I just love the trinkets and treasures we find when we slow down enough to enjoy God's great creation! On a recent family vacation we spent hours walking the beach in search of sea shells, admiring the various pieces, and enjoying the sound of the waves roaring in. And don't get me started on the serene walks through the woods...and the joy of seeing it through children’s eyes. 😊 It just delights the soul to have your grandchildren run up, wanting to share their excitement..."oooh, Grammie, look what I found!" 🥰
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteWelcome to the club! When my nieces and nephews were small, I used to take them on our four wheeler out to a 34 acre woods that was part of our property. The older kids would help the younger ones, and we collected all sorts of wonderful things. Afterward, we'd all settle on the roof of our kennel building (accessible because the kennels were built into a hillside), and I'd read "My Side of the Mountain" to them. Now they're all grown, but frequently tell me that those jaunts were a favorite childhood memory. Knowing that warms my heart.
Happy Weekend!

Thank you for sharing! It is nice to know there are others out there who come home with a pocket full of acorns or interesting leaves or other gifts of nature! Have a blessed day. -- Kathy
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy:
DeleteAbsolutely! Now I end up with pockets filled with hickory nuts, too. Mother Nature shares the best treasures!
Happy Weekend, dear.

That's such a lovely poem and I can see why you would want to share it. Maybe sometime you might share a picture of your shadow box of treasures?
ReplyDeleteGlad your shift at work didn't cause undue stress on your leg and hopefully today will be the same.
Hi MA:
DeleteI absolutely will share my shadow box. Perhaps next week. Same thing happened after tonight's shift. I ate dinner and then went upstairs to elevate it. I see the surgeon Monday and will ask questions.
Happy Weekend!

Oh the things we collect and the reasons behind them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend.

DeleteFunny that I can almost remember where I picked all of them up, too. sigh
Happy Weekend, dear.
