Moving Right Along...

I've completed four placemats and napkins so far. I'll sew the rest today. I've bound the ones that are finished, and even though there are three different styles and fabric combinations from the French General line being used, I'm binding all of them in the same fabric shown on this one. It's also the final border on the table quilt below it.

We bought new hard floors for our dining room and master bedroom today. It's going to be installed on Friday, so I'm going to share before and after photographs on Saturday. It's pretty exciting to have the crummy builder's carpeting finally ripped out of here. I can't wait to share the transformation with you.

Fezzik is working on his post for tomorrow, so I'd better go and see if he wants me to take photographs for him. Thanks for stopping by, dear friends. I hope you have a happy and creative day. If you're getting pounded with more snow today, please stay warm and safe, too!

Je Vous Remercie, Mon Ami...

"Je vous remercie, mon ami" translates as "Thank you, my friend".
On Friday, I received an unexpected package in the mail from my
dear friend, Denise in Vermont. I wondered what it could possibly be?

I was really excited when I realized that she'd gifted me a copy of the
DMC Encyclopedia of Needlework...in French!

This version doesn't show the copyright date, but the pages
although slightly discolored, are in perfect condition, and the
colored plates are still quite vibrant.

I drooled looking at all the images, even though my forte'
is Spanish and not French, but I love the book just the same...
I purchased an antique copy of the English version of the
same Encyclopedia of Needlework in the 90's from a friend of mine,
when we were both vendors at a needlework market in North Carolina.
My copy doesn't have a copyright date either.
It does say, however, that this little book was published in
English, French, Italian and German.
One day soon, I'll sit down with both of my books and compare
images from one to the other. I'm curious to see whether or not
the colored plates are the same or different from each other.

Thank you, so much Denise!
I absolutely love my gift and appreciate it beyond words.
This little book is a real treasure to me.
