This is a counted thread piece that I've had since I owned my needlework shop in Wisconsin. It's a Mary Engelbreit design and you'd have to know that I loved it at first sight all those years ago. The original is pretty colorful, as is most of Ms. Engelbreit's art, but I've transformed it in Photo Elements to this faded sepia tone. This is what the original looks like. Not only was I taken with the image of the boy snuggling with his dog, I also loved the puppies playing around the border. It's just a happy image that makes me feel good. It also reminds me that having a sense of place is important, too.
Home is my own spot. Nothing makes me happier than being here with Handsome and the pups. "Everyone needs their own spot", and I hope that you have a spot that brings you joy. I'd love to know who or what is your own spot. Care to share?
Oh Squeeeeee Donna! I love Mary Engelbreit and I have that particular poster! I would have hung on to the needlework piece myself if I were you. Thank you for sharing it and I hope you're in your special "spot" today also.

Classic Mary Englebreit and I can see how it is a favorite of yours too. My spot is right here in my cozy home with my man and my kitty. I also adore my litte historic town of Nevada City.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nevadacitychamber.com/ Happy Tuesday to you and your cozy spot...
This could be a whole nuther post!!
ReplyDeleteFirst, look at the first pic then look at the second. Amazing how much the addition of color lifts the spirits.
I love my home also. We have lived here since '76 and I can't imagine living anywhere else. Even when I win the lottery. I've had Terry since 71 and I'm keepin him too. We have two elderly mutts that I love to death. Then there are my two grandsons, my daughter and their dog (who is a brother to one of my dogs). I'm not sure if their living here is transitory or permanent, but for the moment they are part of HOME also.
I also love being at home... I guess for me home is where ever my family is. It is not defined as a building or a space. It is defined by the space in my heart. That is my special spot. And those that hold a piece of that patchwork heart, or home, will dwell with me in this "spot" eternally. And for my "spot", I give Gods name all the Glory.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the note Sis Love you much. I am just trying to figure this out, but I'll get it. Thanks for supporting my little space here in Gods world. If just one person gets it... I am doing His work.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless and have a wonderful Day.
I love Mary Engelbreit, and I love this piece of art. My own spot is my sewing room. I'm in my own domain in here.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, I bought an iron on transfer of it for my BFF. She had a sweet little black and white cow dog cross named Spot who played with my golden retriever,Jessie.
She loved it, too.
A sweet memory.
Home just isn't home without a dog.
Donna, this does make me smile. I'm a forever fan of Mary Engelbreit, as you might have noticed from many of my posts. You should link this to M. E. Mondays next week. I've needlepointed one of her designs and have a counted cross stitch book of her designs. Her work always makes me happy, but this one especially so. For me, I'm happiest with my husband here in our home.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you! ~ Sarah
I've always loved Mary too from the first magazine and was sorry to see it end. My favorite spot is my home - I'm just a home person and although I love getting to see other places, I love being home the best. And within my home I'd have to say my studio is my favorite place to be. It just makes me feel good to see all the goodies all around and know that I have the potential to create something out of them.
ReplyDeleteYou know that's my mantra! A homebody all the way!

It seems Home is the spot for so many of us. A quiet evening with my hubby and our pup is a wonderful night to me!
ReplyDeleteLove your new profile pic!
Jane
How sweet this is! I am much like you - I love being home with my hubby and two pups. There's nothing better than spending a quiet evening with the guy you adore and some furry love by your side (and feet). :) Theresa
ReplyDeleteBunnyville. The perfect spot. Of course is my friend Donna was closer to hang out in said spot, it would be even better!
