It Was A Stitching Weekend...

Five Finished Hearts

I completed the stitching on the heart brooches this weekend. As soon as I complete the acorn and ladybug, I'll turn them all into brooches. (I'm repeating myself, aren't I? Sorry.)

Acorn Brooch WIP

I almost finished the acorn, but this one required a lot of careful placement of each stitch on the bottom of the acorn to form a proper brick stitch.

I had my eye appointment Friday morning. It's been four years since my last checkup and I got great news. I was diagnosed with mild cataracts last time, and they've stayed the same since then. I have no other issues, except I need a slightly stronger prescription. So it's no surprise that - even with my magnifier light - my eyes got a little tired yesterday. Otherwise, I would have finished this one, too.

I'm planning to take my frames back to the clinic today to have them order and install my new prescription. Then, I'll be baking bread today. I'll stitch between rises. I'll definitely finish the acorn today. The ladybug will be last. Gotta run...

Happy Monday, friends.

  3. I love the acorn! Very glad your eyes haven't 'developed'. Like you, I often get my new prescription installed in my old frames. I think I had my last ones for at least ten years (probably more) and had several 'updates' in my lenses. Frames are expensive and if I find ones I like then I stick with them.

    1. Thanks, MA. So, I took my frames to the dispensary at the clinic. One pair to have lined bifocals, and the other the progressive lenses. I was only buying lenses and having them installed, mind you. Lined bifocals approx. $250. Progressives? $550. I ordered the lined bifocals, and am going to check Warby Parker or Walmart for them. That price was nuts.

  4. Oh that circle of gorgeousness.
The acorn, beyond words, just stunning.
Glad the eye exam went well, I too reuse my frames for several years.
Seems the older I get the less the eyes have changed.

    1. Hi Shirley-
Thank you, dear. I wish I could adequately Shere the sparkle! Read my response to MA to see what I learned about prices for new lenses today. I had to sign a waiver that they're not responsible if they break my frames either! That's a first. I left the clinic a bit steamed, to say the least.
