| Me At Seventy One |
I spent the day in the studio (Big Reveal tomorrow!), and then Handsome and I went to Wendi's for my hair appointment. By the time we got home, the temperature had dropped into the 20ºs and it was windy. I was freezing, and so were my newly-uncovered ears! lol I went straight upstairs and changed into my warm, comfy sweats!
Handsome had gone out in the morning to the butcher shop up the road that sells local beef, and chose two tenderloin steaks for dinner. When I opened that package to grill them, they were huge! I cut one in half and then butterflied the halves for our meal, freezing the other for another time.
While I was with Wendi getting my hair cut, he went to the grocery store and bought a birthday cake for dessert. So, I was telling everyone we were having steak and cake for my birthday dinner!
I finally started to warm up after a steaming hot cuppa and dinner, and the sweats didn't hurt either. Before bedtime, I asked Handsome to "take my picture" and this is the result. This is who I am most of the winter. Of course I dress up to go out, and there's my work uniform, but at home, I'm most comfortable in this attire. Function before form, right?
I'll be debuting my completed bluebird project on Instagram, Facebook and here tomorrow. I can't wait to show you! For now, I'm making my list of Christmas projects so I can get started on those next. 'Tis the season!

You look great!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been nasty windy & cold lately, no sun either.
Your Birthday meal sounds yummy!
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn:
DeleteWe don't have steak regularly, so it was a real treat. About the wind, cold and gloom...NOT a fan! You're so kind, girlfriend. Thank you!
Stay warm.

Happy happy Birthday Donna. Sounds like you had a lovely celebration. You look so comfortable in your pink hoodie. Nice photo. Enjoy your day doing as you wish.
ReplyDeleteHi Bev:
DeleteThank you so much, dear. It really was nice, and Friday night will be a date with our granddaughters to watch a showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with the sound track played by the Milwaukee Symphony. We're really looking forward to it! I admit, I do love that pink hoodie. It's a Big Dog sweatshirt that I've had for a loooong time, but it just gets softer over the years.
Hugs,
xoxo

I'd say you have both function and form... the tops and bottoms go together... that's a lot better than most of my comfy clothes! Sounds like it was a lovely day, and now you have a lovely picture to commemorate it. Soo looking forward to tomorrow's reveal!
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteI think I was about 50 before I learned that pink is actually considered a "neutral" color. So, I'm lucky that it goes with most of my sweat bottoms. When I'm dressing down, I don't usually pay attention to coordination, so I was just lucky for this photo. lol I hope you enjoy seeing the bluebirds tomorrow!
Hugs,
xoxo

Happy Birthday! Your birthday celebration sounds wonderful! You look fabulous and so cozy, what a great birthday.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! Every year, for at least a week, I'm like a little kid again...no matter my actual age. I do love birthdays. I appreciate your kind words.
DeleteHugs,
xoxo

Steak and cake sounds pretty good to me! Happy Birth Day (I'd sing, but I have it on good authority that you REALLY don't want me to).
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteIt was delicious, and I actually ate cake for breakfast this morning...without a hint of guilt! I understand the singing (not singing) part. The older I get, the lower my voice gets. lol Thanks, girlfriend.
Hugs,
xoxo

Such a nice photo. You look great.
ReplyDeleteSteak and cake, works for me. Sounds like it was a very lovely day.
Weather wise yesterday was a nice day, cold but no wind, today that's a whole different animal.
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteThank you, dear. It was a lovely day, and I'm looking forward to extending at least through the weekend. It was sunny today, which I really loved, but if you were in the wind, you'd better be wearing a cap and gloves. Brrrrrrr!
Stay safe and warm, my friend.
xoxo
