| Freehand Quilting The Bluebirds |
I was hard at it yesterday, quilting on my bluebirds. I spent hours quilting a meander pattern around the main block that will highlight my birds.

| Border Details |
The meandering was the easy part for me. I'm working on the borders now. I've done a straight stitch "in the ditch" (along the seams) for the straight borders. Those were all complete, leaving the half square triangles. By dinner I'd completed two sides of the wall hanging. I have two sides and corner details to do before I've finished the quilting. Once that's done, all that will be left is to trim the excess, bind, attach my hanging sleeve and my label.
I work today, so I know I won't get it all done until tomorrow...My Birthday! It will be a perfect day to finish this piece! Then I can really celebrate!

I love he swirly pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking so pretty.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteThanks so much, dear. My eyes were too tired to sew when I got home from work, so I'll be finishing this on the morning of my birthday! I'm so excited!
Stay warm. It was cold and windy here tonight!
Hugs,

I love that first photo because it shows the dimension of the birds so well. You should be so proud of this one and the quilting is showing it up beautifully. Can't think of a better way to spend a birthday than finishing up such a great project!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteI love that it shows the dimension, too! Thanks so much for noticing. I'll be pretty chuffed when it's all done! on my birthday, no less! Got the card from you and RC today! Thanks, dear.

Perfection. This is such a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I'm overthinking this, but the quilting to me represents the meal worms that the
Bluebirds love so much. But you knew that already, lol. You take the best photos.
Enjoy your special day tomorrow.
Happy Birthday.
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteThank you sooooo much, dear. I love that you saw meal worms in my meandering! Actually, this is the only real pattern I can free hand quilt. Since junior high school, I always doodled this kind of thing. I have muscle memory for it, so I think that's why I'm able to quilt it. I used it on the robins and cardinals, too. I do like that it resembled meal worms for my bluebirds, though. I'm happy with these photos, and took one head-on in daylight to order my bluebird stickers today, too. I'll be able to have sets available now, and will add the goldfinches when I create the final seasons quilt. I'll finish the bluebird wall hanging on my birthday, and then I'll just rest a bit.
Thank you, my friend.
Hugs,
xoxo
