Honestly, I keep trying to do something creative...anything. I don't know if it's the meds, healing, or just laziness, but I can't seem to focus on needle and thread right now. If you know me, either in person or through my posts, you know this isn't like me at all.
So, I hope you'll indulge me while I attempt to figure this out. I'm able to do needed things like baking bread, or canning fresh local produce while it's available, but I keep trying to get back to what my heart knows I love; my mind knows I love; but my body is just holding me back right now.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated. I've stopped all the painkillers, thinking they might be the culprit, and I'm adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to our menu. I'm open to any and all ideas.
After I had surgery, only 2 thankfully, had the same issue. Don’t know if right or not but I felt it was the anesthesia that made me not want to stitch. Had trouble even reading. Was off pain medication within a day or two so never thought it was that. The anesthesia was the only thing different and it did take me 2-3 months for my concentration to come back. You are doing great and your stitchy bug will be back. Diane from TN.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane:
DeleteThanks for your insight. Now I'm not feeling like it's all in my head. I guess I just have to relax and know that it will get better. I really appreciate your note, dear.

It could be meds & the anesthesia, it takes awhile for it to clear out of your body.
ReplyDeleteI stopped the meds after 1 week, but it took some time to clear out & feel better.
HUGS, I know exactly how you feel.
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn:
DeleteIt's easier knowing it's not just me. I've stopped the hydrocodone. I hate that stuff! Trying to stick to Tylenol and ice now. I need to get out from under this stuff. ugh Thanks, dear. I'm glad you understand.
Hugs!

Rest.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi:
DeleteI promise to give it a good shot. I think I've been trying to fight that, but will try to do better.
Hugs,

I agree with Diane and Marilyn that it's an after effect of the anesthesia. I've heard a lot of people complain about the very same thing. Don't worry - you're not alone and your stitching mojo will come back.
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteI don't remember it taking this long before, but I have said this is the hardest surgery I've ever been though, so there's that. It's comforting to know it's not just me. Thanks, dear.
Hugs,

I am back! We had a great trip but I am exhausted. I read the lead in your post and thought I need that. Allow my body to rest and not push me, even though my brain says I should. Your body has been invaded and violated. When I was 20 and was ready to come off birth control pills and get pregnant, my doctor said it takes a MINIMUM of three months to get drugs out of your system. I have no doubt all your creativity will come back. You just need to quit trying to fight what your body is saying. Yes, you like baking bread and canning, but it is also a necessity for you and Hansome to sustain life. Your creativity is the same but it is deeper within you and shouldn’t be force. You won’t like the results as much. Let your body rest and recoup. For me I have so much to do but am so exhausted. I got maybe 2 hours of good sleep a night for the last 3 weeks. I have tons to do after being gone so long. I got a note pad and am just making a list of what needs to be done. My body needs a break from pushing it as I have been doing. Yours really needs a break. Rest recoup, do what your body says, but don’t push to the extreme opposite of the pendulum. You will get there again. Lovies, bobbi
ReplyDeleteHi Bobbi!
DeleteGlad you're safely back home! I'm happy to hear you had a fun, albeit tiring trip. I agree. We all need to remember to just take a breath and relax sometimes. You're right. This was another major invasion and I need to remember that. Healing takes time, and I'll be glad when the drugs are completely out of my system. Handsome and I have agreed that, unless my BOB knee says differently, I'm going to wait until spring to do that replacement. I can't even think of doing this again in a mere three months from the first one! Let's promise each other we'll both take it easy and rest. Thanks for your insight, dear.
Lovies right back to you!

First we can rule out the laziness that's not even in your vocabulary girl.
ReplyDeleteHeart, mind and body, two out of three is pretty good for now.
The body will let the heart and mind know when it's ready.
We have all been there at one time or another.
As they say 'go with the flow.'
You are accomplishing so many other things every day.
If you were just sitting and looking out the window all day that would be a concern.
Enjoy the week.

Hi Shirley, dear.
DeleteYour message was so very comforting, and you always have such great insights. I don't think you really know how much that means to me. I just felt my shoulders relax. Thank you so much.
Hugs,
