Dance With Me...

Except for the feet which will be stitched after I've completed their perch, my birds are done!!! I'm tickled with how the tail finished, and how the birds all look together. It was Handsome's idea to hold the embroidery at an angle to show the dimension here...and his hands are holding the hoop.

I will begin work on the fencing today, and can't wait to show you what I have in mind. I work again on Saturday to cover for someone who quit last week, but then I'm off the schedule for another two weeks. To tell the truth, I don't mind one bit.

I'm planning to finish the work on this during my down time, and then go forward with the finishing (turning it into a wall hanging). I'm going to start auditioning fabrics for the quilted portion now that I have the birds done. I'll probably share with you, too, for input. I have some gorgeous Japanese fabrics that might be perfect for this, so that's where I'll look first.

Yesterday was a long day, and my legs just won't settle down. This must be what restless leg syndrome is like, but I know it's because of the pain. I hate taking medicines, but I relented last night so I could sleep. They don't really help, but I keep telling myself to go with the flow. Seriously, surgery can't come soon enough now that we've got a viable plan. Until then, I'm planning to keep my mind and hands busy to keep my attention off my legs. I'll share more needlework progress tomorrow!

  2. I know you have shown the dimensional aspect before, but this photo really enhances the depth of it - it is amazing! I hope there is a quilt show in the near future so that we can all enjoy seeing a blue ribbon on this lovely! Even if there isn't, you can take great satisfaction in knowing that this is truly a one-of-a-kind amazing piece! And it isn't even complete, yet! 😄 I'm selfishly glad you have the next two weeks off so that we can keep watching the bluebirds progress. 😉 Isn't funny how when we put something off/dread getting something done (like surgery), that once we make a confident decision, we can't get it done soon enough. Hoping your pain relief and healing come soon!

    1. Hi Lois:
Thanks so much! I'd love to enter it into a local quilt show this fall. I'll have to do some research to see what's available! I'm enjoying this two weeks off, too - well, after Saturday. I plan to get some good stitching in! I agree about the medical decisions of late. Now to get the appointment scheduled!

  3. Seeing the birds at an angle show the detail so much more. I can see why you are excited to work on the next step.
Restless legs is something I know all about and often I end up out on the couch in the middle of the night because I simply can't get them to be still enough to sleep. I really hope yours is a one-off!

    1. Hi MA:
Thanks so much! It's getting close now. My legs torment me daily (and nightly). You know what I'm going through with the restless legs, and I'm so sorry you do. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. sigh This too, shall pass.

  4. Sherryofcreateology: Handsome is pretty smart to show the dimension by holding the hoop at an angle…Must be his years of professional photography! Your Tail feathers look wonderful. Now to relax and let your mind tell your legs and body they will soon be better than new. XOXO…

    1. Hi Sherry:
Yes. He was pretty chuffed to see that I used his version and not my own. There was only a slight difference, but his angle was so much better. Thank you, dear. I'm going to do my best in the "relax" department.
      Happy 4th!

  5. It is so much fun to see this come together.
Oh those restless legs, I take Hyland's Natural, it used to be Restless Legs now they have
labeled it Leg Cramps, which covers the whole gamut. They are very tiny and melt very
quickly in your mouth and then just wash them down with a drink of water. Works very fast
too. I usually take four. Most grocery stores or pharmacys carry the whole Hyland's line, usually in the aspirin area.

    1. Oh, my dear Shirley:
I'm going to hunt those down until I find them! These legs drive me upstairs to bed every night...and then bug me all night, too. I'm getting sick and tired of them, truthfully. I'll look forward to trying your treatment.
      Happy 4th, dear.
