Today I thought I'd share what my needlework looks like while I'm actually stitching. Most days, I anchor and trim all my threads before taking a photograph. This time, I wanted you to see how I juggle threads while I'm working on the piece(s).
For the fencing, I'm working with seven different thread colors. Most of the time, I don't have more than four needles active and in play. Every once in a while, though, all seven threaded needles will be anchored somewhere in the ground fabric. This photo shows four needles anchored as I work the base threads for my fencing.
I only worked on it for about one and a half hours yesterday, but even so, I think you can see the progress I made during that time.
I'll be back at my hoop today, in between half hour rises for my farmhouse bread baking. Once all the bread is done, I'll still have plenty of daylight to do more "fence work". I'd love to get as far as the first baby bird today. We'll see how I did tomorrow.
Great progress!

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteLittle by little. I'm getting there!

I can certainly see your progress. Have to say though - I don't think I'd much like juggling seven threads (and needles) at the same time. I have a hard enough time working with two, much less seven.
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteI have a pretty good system for parking the needles away from my work so things don't get too tangled. (I still want the back of my work to look nice, too.) I do have to pay attention, though, and when all else fails, I anchor and cut threads to clean up my work space.

Sherryofcreateology: I do see your progress my dear and it looks amazing. I am glad you showed it with the needles and threads you wrangle each stitchery session. You definitely are stitching a Masterpiece. Enjoy your bread baking and stitching today. XOXO
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweet Sherry. I know I'm going to be pretty happy once I can say it's all complete. My other two seasonal bird hangings have small motifs embroidered in the corners. I'm going to have to come up with what I want on this one, too! Decisions, decisions. lol It was a good day, hon. Hope you're safe and weathering your heat spell.

Just beautiful and there sure is progress.
ReplyDeleteToo many needles for me, with all those needles and threads I would definitely
has a ready made nest on the back side.

Thank you, dear Shirley. There's no "mind wandering" on this project. I really have to pay attention to what I'm doing. Hope you're having a good week.
