All the wings have been wired now. Next, I'll tape the ends down so they stay out of my way and don't catch threads as I work. Once I add a few directional lines to keep me on target, it will be time to bring out my threads.
I had a restful weekend, and hope you did, too. I'm relaxed, refreshed, and ready for the week ahead. I'm hoping to get a lot accomplished.
I have a PT appointment, and Handsome and I have to pick up some "supplies" for Carly. She surprised us with a heat cycle on Friday. This will be her last one. She's five, and after discussion with Mike (our trainer friend) who has retired, our source for breeding/puppy sales is no longer available. So, once she's finished this heat, we'll have her spayed. No more doggie diapers in her future.
It's kind of bittersweet for me. I would have loved to have a litter of her puppies. We've bred, raised and trained hunting retrievers for about forty five years. Although I'm sure we'll always have dogs, Carly signals the end of our breeding programs. We're definitely ending on a high note with this girl.
Time to get moving. I'll see you again tomorrow. I hope you make it a great week!

My eyes and fingers hurt imagining all those tiny button hole stitches. It's great to have all that done and get on with the "pretty" stitches. 😊 I'm sorry you've come to the end of something you have enjoyed for so many years.. I'm sure it was a difficult, but very wise decision. Enjoy beautiful Carly and all her own puppy like exuberance 😁
ReplyDeleteHi Lois-
DeleteThanks, dear. It might have been fun to count them! lol I'm glad they're done though so I can get on to the next part. We sure had fun with all the dogs. If we'd built or had a proper kennel facility here, we might have made a different decision. As it is, this is really for the best all around. The end of an era. sigh
Hugs,

That's a lot of stitching.
ReplyDeleteIt was just Friday a few hours ago and now it's Monday again.
End of an era with Carly, definitely a high note.
I've been following the beagle rescue.

Hi Shirley-
DeleteLots and lots! lol You're right. Time just flies by! I've been following the beagle rescue, too. I'm so happy they'll all have chances for a normal life. Poor babies.
Hugs,

Awww - poor Carly, staring down the snip job. Much less embarassing than having to wear diapers though!
ReplyDeleteThe flutter bye is looking great so far...can't wait to see the colour being added.
Hi MA-
DeleteShe looks so forlorn at this point. I imagine she has doggie cramps and just wants this over with. Actually, come to think of it, so do we! I'm looking forward to seeing some headway on my project, too. Soon!
Hugs,
xo
Donna
Great start!
