Happy New Year...

Today is the beginning of a brand new year. A year filled with hope, possibility, and promise. May the next three hundred sixty five days bring only the best to all, peace for our world, and creativity and good health to every heart.

I've chosen my Word of the Year and am ready to share it with you. I actually found it in a scripture a friend shared. It's from Isaiah 43:18...

"Forget the former things. Do not dwell in the past."

My word for this year will be "Release". I'll be releasing everything that does not serve me well...tangible and intangible. Time to release all the old burdens, and look ahead.

Do you adopt a new word to guide you each year? If so, what is your new word? How will it manifest for you? What are you looking forward to in 2026?

Thank you for once again joining me on this journey. 2026 marks fifteen years that I've written a near-daily post. I'm so glad I changed settings so that we could converse when you leave a comment for me. They really are the highlight of my day!

I step into the near year immensely grateful to be sharing my life with you. May God bless each of you richly in the coming twelve months (and beyond) with good health, happiness, and enduring love.

Always,

  1. Donna, thank you for sharing with us. Reading your posts are a bright spot in my day. I've learned a few things and I get to marvel at your beautiful creations. I hope you have a blessed year.
That scripture has popped up for me several times recently. I have let some past events cause me to grow weary and I am determined to move on from them this year. Time to accept some things are out of my control to fix. So, I find myself repeating the phrase "Let go and let God" frequently to keep from backtracking.
And a good quote overall is "the beginning is always today" credited to Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley from one of my Celestial Seasoning tea boxes! Best wishes to all --Kathy

  2. Happy New Year to you Donna, Handsome and the furry family too. I don't choose a word but just try to live each day at a time hoping for the best.

  3. This post just says it all. So eloquently put.
I don't choose a word, there are just so many that I could apply and I think
I do throughout the year without realizing that I do.
Release is an excellent choice, I've done a lot of that this past year.
Happy New Year, it's going to be a good one.

  5. Wishing you, Handsome, and all the girls a joyous and blessed new year! Release is a good word and attitude/action to adopt. I don't have an annual word, but I have been focusing on Psalm 90:12 the past few years...endeavoring to "number my days" so that I would use my time wisely. Also, trying to focus my thoughts as directed in Philippians 4:8. It's funny how a date on the calendar gives us the wonderful feeling of a fresh, new start once a year...and, yet, "His mercies are new every morning." 😊 Happy 2026!

  6. Sherryofcreateology: I love your 2026 word, “Release”! My word for 2026 I let my husband choose for me as I was driving. He chose “Cautious”. Then he explained why. I need to be cautious with my health and stress levels, cautious with my time and projects and most of all I need to be cautious with my over-volunteering and trying to do it all. He really picked a good word for me!
