My visit with Kathy D. yesterday made for a great day. We shared lunch - I made our favorite mac n cheese, and Kathy showed up with fruit, fried chicken, and homemade cookies! Handsome joined us for lunch and then he disappeared with the dogs to other parts of the house.
Meanwhile, Kathy and I had a great visit. I saw the counted thread sampler she's currently working on from a retreat she recently attended on Madelein Island in northern Wisconsin. I showed her my stalled progress on the bluebirds, and then we just got caught up.
Of course, I never took a photograph of a single thing while she was here, so that's why you're seeing a silly photo of sleeping Claudette instead.
Late day today, I got a chance to speak with Mum. She's still in the hospital so they can monitor one of her blood levels that's been off the charts. Once that's regulated - thanks to the surgery results - she'll be able to go home...hopefully tomorrow. She sounded really great and is content to wait there, as she's quite sore from all the prodding and poking. It's the best place for her right now. It was so good to hear her voice and know she's okay. I told her I'll speak with her again soon.
Handsome has his last concert this evening. We're hoping there's no rain so it can be open air at the park, rather than indoors at the fairgrounds. The outdoor venue is so much better.
It's going to be a busy day, too. Physical therapy, a doctor's checkup for Handsome, a scheduled classmate dinner (I'm not sure how we're going to get to that), and then the concert. We'll see. I'm going to make sure I get a good nap in there somewhere, and ice my knee after we get home from the clinic so I can get around for the concert. That's the one thing I absolutely won't be missing.
How are you doing?
Claudette is too funny!
ReplyDeleteGlad your Mom is doing well.
It sounds like you have a busy day, don't overdo it.
I'm doing ok, I go to the Ortho tomorrow, hoping to get rid of the boot.
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn:
DeleteI hope your appointment goes well. Jan had a foot surgery, too and although she's pretty well healed now, I remember how she hated that boot. It was a busy day. I think I overdid, but I'll be fine with a little ice and my meds. I'm taking it easy today, for sure.
Hugs,
xoxo

aaaaah - does indeed sound like a pretty wonderful day and so glad to hear your Mom is doing well. We finally got some rain here yesterday and I think most everybody felt like celebrating after so long without. It's probably too late for the farmers though. Hope your rain holds off until after the concert and that you're able to go.
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteThe sky actually cleared off for the start of the concert, and although it clouded over later, there was no precip in the forecast. It was a perfect evening for a concert. Mum called while I was waiting for the concert to begin. She's hoping to get clearance from all three doctors to go home today (Thursday). One has already said yes, so she's got her fingers crossed. Seems the surgery worked! I'm glad you got rain, although I'm so sorry that it may be too late for the farmers and their crops. I'll pray it will be okay.
Hugs,
xoxo

That was indeed a very good day, and today sounds like it could be another good - great! - day, as long as you don't overdo. Tomorrow might need to be a slow day 😊 Hoping all works out for an enjoyable evening at Handsome's concert!
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteWell, you called that one! lol Just the walking and sitting without elevating my feet accounted for some major tightness this morning. The good news is that nothing is swollen or inflamed. Meds and ice today, and a whole lot of nothing else. I will say, it was all worth it to see my guy perform. Although he didn't push for me to go, I know how much it meant to him that I was there.
Hugs,
xoxo

Sherryofcreateology: Ahhh I like the photo of Claudette. Sounds like a perfect day with your friend. You have an overly busy day today yet I know you really want to go to Handsome’s last concert of the summer. Lots of ice and rest for you dear. It is good to be busy yet exhausting too.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteYou're exactly right. Lots of activity for two days, and a PT session in there, too. Lots of ice and my meds will get me though it. Nothing but rest on the agenda for today. Thanks dear.

Claudette may be a bit too spicy for spicer Jack.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your mum is doing so good. It really is so nice when we get to hear their
voice and can make our own assessment of their situation.
So nice to catch up with a friend in person.
Your day is set on cruise control, it won't be long before you are back on
the Energizer Bunny schedule.
The rain is here all afternoon and into tonight so hopefully you'll be dry.
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteClaudette is definitely spicy. lol She's something else. She sniffs around her daughter, grooming and cuddling, and the next thing you know, she wants to beat her up. I just have to shake my head. Mum called again just before the concert to tell me she thinks they'll let her go home today. She sounded great, and promised to keep me updated so I know where she is. I'm actually looking forward to my Energizer Bunny schedule, although I haven't been fighting this slower pace. I know what I need right now, and admit I just smile when I walk past my needlework, but I have no desire to sit at the hoop quite yet. Soon. It was a perfect evening for the concert. No rain, and just a little crispness in the air. As much as I love fall, I'm not quite ready for it yet. Enjoy the rain, girlfriend.
