Yes! I baked yesterday afternoon. I mixed up a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, but rather than make the "civilized" size, I opted for MONSTER sized.
I grabbed the larger of my two scoop sizes and ended up with thick, chewy, 4" cookies. Instead of six or seven dozen, there were two dozen. The first batch turned out lighter as I tested my way through baking times. The second batch was darker, but not as dark as they appear in this late day photograph, and still chewy.
Handsome ran an errand while I made these, and my own Cookie Monster was delighted to see them when he walked in the back door. Made my day, actually.
We both spent a lot of time off our feet during the day, and although my knee still feels tight, I'm pleasantly surprised that there's no longer that intense pain. More like a dull, tight sensation. Have I turned a corner? I'm being optimistic here. I may have.
Physical therapy this morning and then no trips to town for the weekend. Jenna is off today, so I'll have a different therapist. We'll see how hard she wants to push me, and how I do with it. I'll let you know how it goes.
I can always console myself with milk and a cookie when I get back home. That's if Handsome hasn't eaten them all! I'm not too concerned. They're a bit rich to eat more than one for me, and maybe two, even for him.
Happy Weekend!!!
Mmmmm, those cookies look so delicious!
ReplyDeleteHope therapy goes well.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteOne is plenty for me. Each one is loaded with chocolate and pecans, and equal to about four cookies. They really are monsters. Thanks, dear. PT was great today. Hope you've been able to shed the boot now, too!
Hugs,
xoxo
Donna
Doc said I can shed the boot as I feel, & drive if I'm ok without the boot. yay!
DeleteOh dear me, your cookies look so good. You are amazing with your post op progress.
ReplyDeleteHi Bev:
DeleteThank you, dear. It was a little more taxing than I anticipated, but the reward came after they finished baking. All better. Happy Weekend!

😊 Donna, just another smile as I read today. After having missed your writings for several weeks, it's just so good to be reading about your life seeming to "return to normal" (whatever "normal" is 😆😉) and that you are healing. God is so good and gracious to carry us through these difficult times, and to bless us with those special people to share the challenges! Have a lovely weekend!(and eat one of those delightful cookies for me - the calories won't count for you 😁)
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteThanks again for the giggle. It feels great to be making my way back to "me". I agree. God is most gracious and I've been sustained by His grace and Handsome's loving care. I couldn't have made it through without both of them. My dear husband was almost in tears today watching me walk in the house. He made note of how well I'm doing. I wish I could safely send cookies to you so you could enjoy one yourself. That would definitely be the best!
Happy Weekend, dear.

I am pretty sure that chocolate chip cookies and milk have curative powers so they should accelerate your healing even faster! I am so glad your progress has been going so well. Take care - Kathy
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy:
DeleteYou know...I think you're right! At least that's the program I'm going with. lol Thanks so much for your good wishes, dear. Happy Weekend.

Donna
mmm - now you have me craving chocolate chip cookies....get thee behind me Satan!!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteI laughed out loud! Thanks for that. I'd love to send a whole batch across the border, but, well...I'm not sure how they'd travel and how long it would take. Darn it! I hope you have a perfect weekend, girlfriend.
Hugs,

Sherryofcreateology: Oh Yes! I love Cookies!! Those are the right size for me. Haha. Yesterday I got my favorite Oatmeal with raisins cookie and it was monster size. I actually ate it over several hours and shared some with hubby. Practicing some watercolor techniques is always my happy time. Good to know your extreme pain has lessened. Relaxing weekend dear.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteThose sound tasty, too! I have to share mine, too. I'm unable to eat a whole one, too. I admit I give it my best shot, though. lol I love seeing your watercolors, dear. They're always so calming and lovely. I think it's safe to say the major pain is behind me. An occasional dull ache and tightness, but that's all. I'm going to save those painkillers for my PT appointments, but otherwise stick with Tylenol. I hope you have a perfect weekend, dear friend.

Donna
Monster size cookies, there should never be any other size for a cookie.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have turned the corner, you're on the on ramp for Route 66.
The worst is in the rear view mirror now. All that hard work and perseverance
has paid off big time.
Enjoy the weekend.
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteI completely agree! There will definitely be more in our future, too. I love your analogy, and I think you're right. Pretty soon, the PT department will be a thing of the past - until the next knee - and I'm in no hurry for that! Thanks for all your encouragement and cheerleading. I know it helped. Happy Weekend, sweet friend.
Hugs,
xoxo
