Officially Twenty Two Inches...

According to our friends who live a few miles north of us, we got 22" of snow from Winter Storm Elsa (along with a lot of wind and drifting).

As far as I'm concerned about this winter, I'm past ready to "let it go"!

Andy came down with his tractor with the big snow blower and managed to move most of the white stuff for us. Late afternoon, Handsome and I got out our tractor with a front bucket and rear blade and managed to move what was right in front of our garage door. Andy continues to be a blessing to us (for many more reasons than just this).

Thankfully, Handsome's band rehearsal was cancelled, following the lead of local schools and many businesses (including the station until mid-afternoon, when the owner had my boss go in to open back up. (Nuts, if you ask me!)

I'm working today, and will get to see just what the "outside world" looks like from the station. I'm pretty sure I'll be quite happy to accomplish my shift and get back home. I'll let you know how things went tomorrow.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and more importantly for our family, Happy Anniversary to Son #2 and his bride!

Donna

  1. I am so with you in Letting it Go. Our snow was washed away last night with rain and wind. Lots of each. Take care with your driving.

    1. Hi Bev-
Driving was better today. Last night was miserable. The plows are still catching up on our rural roads, but they've been working hard to clear the snow and sand the ice. Like you, I'm done with this winter and am looking forward to official Spring.

  2. Oh goodness, it sounds like all you'll see of the "outside world" is white, white, white. Such a blessing to have neighbors who care for you in such a way! ❤️ If I had your packed pantry, cozy home, and plentiful crafting supplies, I would not be leaving home until the white stuff was all gone...and the calendar says spring starts Friday🙄

    1. Hi Lois:
In addition to 22" of snow here, the constant wind made it looked like even more. We have the best neighbors, and we do our very best to reciprocate in other ways. Believe me, if it weren't for my ten hours a week at work, I would be more than content to stay inside these four walls. I'm really looking forward to spring. I'm ready to put Old Man Winter in the rear view mirror!

  3. Sick of it!
I don't know how much we got, it's so windy & drifting, maybe about 6".
This is the biggest snow storm we've had all winter!
Hubby takes the neighbors Deere & plows everyone on the circle, they winter in FL.
The sun came out late afternoon & some melted.
I kept throwing seed out for the birds, They were out like crazy, & the little Juncos are still here.
Please be careful going to work, there might be some icy spots yet.

    1. HibMarilyn-
I'm with you, sister!! Winter can take a hike!! I'm sure your neighborhood is as grateful for your husband as we are for Andy.
Stay warm, dear. I think we have a bit more to endure first.
      Hugs,

  4. Wow! 22 inches! It’s so hard for a southern girl to imagine that much snow since we rarely see any. I certainly hope it quickly disappears for you! Andrea Hickman

    1. Hi Andrea-
It's okay, hon. You don't need to think about our snow. Enjoy your southern weather. This time of year, I definitely miss Florida! Hopefully, this will end soon. I'm more than ready for it.

  5. We got about 6" prefaced by freezing rain so of course clearing the car off this morning was a huge chore. I can't imagine 22" - that's enough to make me crawl back into bed and stay there.

    1. Hi MA-
We got snow, then rain, then more snow. That freezing rain made the 22" worse. It made the snow heavier, and it was icy below. It make everything more dangerous...especially for us "mature folk". Handsome and I keep reminding each other to "be careful". Stayin bed sounds like a Heavenly idea!

  6. What would we do without driveway markers?

    1. Hi Shirley-
The driveway markers are great for Andy. On the rare occasion that the county plow actually turns around at the end of our road into our drive (so he catches all the road going back out), the markers in that area are simply targets of opportunity. He's bent two and demolished one more. 🤦🏼‍♀️ At least he's didn't roll up sod with it, so there's that. Andy really is the best! I'll pass along you good wishes.
