Let's begin by saying, I located my lost item last night after dinner. I was able to sleep without that gnawing at my brain.
I woke up refreshed and ready to dance. This is what I'm working on now. I'm creating a smaller version of my exclusive Something Blue Bridal Brooches for baptisms and confirmations. Of course, in hopes that it will become a treasured heirloom, it could certainly also become a bridal brooch, but not for "something blue".
These will be beaded or have more goldwork fibers, with a cross in the center. I'll be working more on these over the weekend.
One more thing...unrelated. Handsome's truck died this week. I mean really died. We're currently debating whether or not we need a second vehicle, and if so, just what our next move will be. We don't want a brand new truck or car that will tell us how we're driving. We'll be discussing it more in the coming days. Just what we needed. This definitely wasn't on my 2026 bingo card (along with three + weeks being sick to start the new year). sigh
It's the weekend again! I hope you have sunshine skies and warm(er) breezes.

These will be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find a nice vehicle, I don't care for the new ones with "everything".
It's supposed to be in the 70's Today! Strange weather.
Most of the snow has melted the past 2 days.
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn-
DeleteThanks, dear. As far as the vehicle goes, Handsome is in the "I don't want another vehicle. I want my truck back." stage. That means we'll be sticking with my vehicle for now. We'll look later, when he's ready. We did enjoy the warm weather, but it's bouncing around, so layering is good. Take a layer off if it's warmer. Keep it on if it stays cold. sigh
Hugs,
Donna
We just had to find another car for our college daughter who goes to school 3 hours away. Her car sprung a massive oil leak and the cost to repair is more than the car is worth. We ended up buying a Honda Crv, but it was more expensive and had more miles than we preferred. More expensive and more miles seemed to be the norm, and I think we were quite surprised. We would have to have a car for me if something happened to one of ours. My husband works 30 miles away and often 10 hour days. My husband said that when he retires he will be hunting for a truck from the 80-90s that he could work on without all the extras. Andrea Hickman
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea-
DeleteI'm not sure how long we'll tolerate only one vehicle, but I'm not anxious to have car payments again, but I agree, it will likely be older. In addition to the driver warnings, I don't like that they have to be hooked to a computer for simple diagnostics. If I could find something solid from the mid-90s, I'd jump at it, with exactly your husband's reasoning. For now, we'll wait until Handsome gets over the loss of his all-time favorite vehicle.
Hugs,
Donna
Glad you located what was lost. Your latest creations will be so charming and perfect for baptisms.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Handsome's truck - that's not what you wanted to have to deal with.
Hi MA-
DeleteThanks. I am, too. I waste so much time fixating on things that I lose. Glad this was found sooner, rather than later. I love these slightly smaller hearts. They're so sweet. Thanks again about the trick. Handsome can hardly talk about it. We'll wait until he's ready - which may take more than a minute.
Hugs,
Donna
Sherryofcreateology: It is never a good time to lose a vehicle. Wayne and I gifted our chosen son our classic Rambler earlier this year and we sure do miss the old gal “Clara”. Brad and his wife are having a blast with driving her and getting all the thumbs up. Newer vehicles are so very expensive and so is the insurance. We have debated on when it will be time to have only one vehicle. Right now we still have two of the three we had. Love your newest brooches. Also perfect for those Hispanic 15 year old Quinceañera celebrations!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry-
DeleteThe thought of any car payment makes me a bit nauseous. We haven't had one in so long, I got used to it. But, I am also used to having two vehicles, so we'll see how long we can go before we have to bite down on the bullet and go shopping. Thanks about the brooches. For Quinciñeras is another great idea! ❤️
Hugs,
Donna
These are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad the 'lost' item decided to come out of hiding.
I thought the even numbered years are supposed to be the good ones.
Shirley
Hi Shirley-
DeleteI was glad to find it, too! Seems I need to label a drawer in my studio "For Safe Keeping". Might help me keep track of such things in the future. sigh Perhaps the "even numbered years" thing doesn't apply to Handsome and me? (2024 was the year he was unexpectedly in and out of the hospital, and 2026 isn't going well so far either.) Hopefully, things will look up from here.
Fingers crossed.
Hugs,
Donna
Awww. I'm sorry to hear about the truck. I had an old Toyota Sequoia that I loved! It owed us absolutely nothing and is still running string for its new owner. "We" decided we needed a vehicle that consumed far less gas. Let just say, I really miss my Sequoia. She never talked back to me and always had room for what I wanted to pack in her. Sigh. But, we use less than half the gas we did before, so there's that...
