It's Christmas Eve...

Brynwood Needleworks - They're Finished!

I'll be wrapping these this morning, and we'll deliver them this afternoon...just in time for Christmas Eve. I'm only sharing a peek, but I'm sure you can tell, they're fuzzy and whimsical. I them to you in full photographs next week.

Handsome and I will have a nice lunch as we make our way home from our gift deliveries, and then we'll tuck ourselves in for the evening. Lights twinkling, holiday programming on the television, dogs snoozing at our feet, and a quiet dinner together.

Yesterday's Efforts...

Brynwood Needleworks - French Baguettes

 

I went to Neenah (WI) first thing yesterday to pick up something special my niece's husband created for me, and of course, had to duck into Primitive Gatherings just down the road before heading back home. I had an order waiting there for me, so I saved the postage by picking it up. I also stopped at Hobby Lobby for a few things I needed, and turned for the farmhouse.

 

When I got back home, I mixed up the dough for French bread. I'm serving lasagna tomorrow, so I thought a baguette would be nice on the side. We'll be seeing our elder son, his wife, and our grandson on Christmas Day. Our son is making beef stew, so I offered to bring bread to the meal. After the dough was mixed and going through the first rise (30 minutes), I decorated the Christmas bell cookies with a lovely buttercream frosting I tinted red and green. Then, I set them aside so the icing could set up.

One of the things I bought at HobLob was a small vial of pink luster dust. I decided Santa needed rosy cheeks and pink lips. Don't you think it's an improvement?

 Hi, Everybody!

Today is Christmas Eve. We've have lots of stuff to do today to help Mom and Dad get ready, so this is gonna be real short. (No Corgi jokes!)

The Black Dog and I just wanted to say that we hope everybody has a great Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year). I know there are going to be mondo treats in the farmhouse over the next few days, and we want to be as underfoot as possible to take advantage of any possible droppage. There shall also be much snugglin' and merrymakin', which is right up our collective alley.

Tomorrow is Christmas Day, and we'll all be countin' our blessin's...family, friends, good food, good health, and most of all...all of you who stop by to visit us every day. We know you're out there, and we love you all to pieces.

Merry Christmas to all, and well...you know the rest.

  As we celebrate this Christmas Eve, we stop to remember friends and family, near and far. Jazz At JD's...

 Handsome joined Mike Moran, his wife Kit and Dominic Mancini to perform

at JD's in Port Charlotte, FL on Saturday night. I took a few photos to share

with you, but I sure wish that all of you could have joined us.

It was chilly outside, but inside we all enjoyed an evening of jazz at a fabulous venue. 

Mike Moran on keyboard, his wife Kit is the vocalist, Dominic Mancini on bass and

Handsome sitting in at his drum kit. Dominic is actually related to Henry Mancini,

and he, Mike and Kit moved here from the northeast about eight years ago.

Mike also performs with Handsome for the Port Charlotte Swing Band.

 They finished the evening with their rendition of Michel Legrand's

"What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life?". I was in tears.

When Handsome and I were married 28 years ago (this week!),

that was one of the songs performed during our wedding ceremony.

They just don't make music like that anymore.

Fezzik Friday - 28 Weeks...

Greetings and Glad Tidings on this Christmas Eve Friday. I thought it only appropriate that I should dress up for the occasion. I'm more than a little excited to be celebrating my very first Christmas.

Mom and Dad are celebrating the birth of Jesus this weekend, and I know it's going to include people visiting, lots of good food...and presents! I'm not sure what presents are yet, but Kes has been telling me that I'm going to like them.
Kes wanted to say "Merry Christmas", too, this week. She was happy to pose with an arrangement that Mom's friend, Ellen, gave her. She has always liked this time of year, but loves it in Florida. Her ol' bones don't have to trudge through the snow when it's time to go out. She tells me that when she lived in Wisconsin, "Dashing Through The Snow" had a whole different meaning.

There are no Grinches at our house, but this will really make you smile. We'd like to leave you today, with a musical presentation of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch".

This was performed last Sunday afternoon by the North Port Orchestra, featuring a young man who plays in the violin section. His name is Sullivan Hendrickson-Boyd and he is a 15 year old high school student at North Port High School. (Mom and Dad have his mom's permission to share this with you.)

We all think that Sullivan has a brilliant singing career in his future. He is a natural bass, including his speaking voice, and this rendition of "Mr. Grinch" will positively stun you. So, please sit back, turn up your sound and enjoy Sullivan's singing with the Orchestra (our Handsome Dad is on the drums).

The Night Before Christmas...

No opening presents til later tonight!

I'll be heading out this morning to make my annual Christmas Eve gift at the Suncoast Community Blood Bank. A pint of my O negative blood may help save someone's life over the holidays. I'll pick up last minute supplies for Christmas dinner, and then I'll look forward to getting back home and spending the rest of the evening with my sweetheart.
