Hibiscus Shop Hop Bag...

 

I did this yesterday! I sewed a Shop Hop Crossbody Bag to mail out to a client today. I managed to concentrate from start to finish, and even added a matching key fob to surprise her.

I'll get back to stitching today, and I have a needlework class with Clara this afternoon for a couple hours. It will be a relaxing and rewarding day for sure.

Ellie and Queen...

 

I managed a little slow stitching today, finishing the embroideries on these two Palmer pieces. I'm calling them "Ellie" and "Queen". I'm choosing less embroidery rather than more to highlight the drawings, to keep them simple.

I'll assemble the bags once I complete the other pieces I have, so I'll likely create the project bags early next week. Today I'm going to make the Shop Hop Crossbody Bag so I can send it out to my client ahead of schedule.

It's really nice to get a needle and thread back in my hand and just get lost in the process. I'll finish these and then it will be time to work on a few more goldwork frogs on my list. I haven't forgotten those who are still waiting. Soon, dears. Very soon.

Now, Where Was I?...

When last I was involved in a creative pursuit, I was working on the first of these Palmer art pieces to create new zippered pouches. Then The Crud hit and everything was put on hold. 

I pulled these out of my embroidery box to review what I'd wanted to embroidery on them, and I'll get back to needle and thread today. I want these finished and in my shop in time for Valentine's Day.

I also have a Shop Hop Crossbody Bag to create for a custom order I received while I was laid up. That will be ready to ship by Monday to my client. It really is time for me to gently return to my needle dancing. I'll just have to pace myself so I don't relapse.

Thanks for all your care and concern for me. I really felt all your good wishes and prayers. I know my return was faster because of you. I missed you too much to stay away longer.

I Did This Yesterday...

Brynwood Shop Hop Crossbody Bag - Purple Cork/Birds

I was contacted by a client on Tuesday evening asking if/when I'd be listing up this specific cork color and bird print Shop Hop bag again. I told her I was happy to add one to my inventory so she could order it. 

I added two to my inventory Tuesday, and made them today. One is already on its way to my client, and the other is in my shop - available for purchase. I was glad to sew up two cork bags, and will be creating and listing new items in the next one to two weeks. Yesterday was a good sewing day.

Fly Away Mouse...

Brynwood Needleworks - Mouse Corded Backpack and Shop Hop Crossbody Set

 

This is the set I completed Monday. Licensed fabric, turned into a drawstring backpack. The cord is black nylon, like that used by climbers, and a black cork fabric exterior pocket. The coordinating Shop Hop Crossbody Bag, has black cork on the back. Both are lined in a pretty red and white polka dot fabric.

I added a handy interior zipper pocket on the interior of the backpack, too. Wrapped and packaged, this set is already on its new owner. I sure hope she loves it!

I completed all of these Monday, with more on the cutting table yesterday. These are really a fun sew for me, and most of them will be going into my booth on the 24th. I'm planning more in some of my beautiful, colorful, cork fabrics.

Production Sewing...

Brynwood Needleworks - Shop Hop Crossbody Bag Parts

 

I enjoyed a lot of relaxing this past weekend, but I also managed to do a bit of production work, too. I'm nearly finished sewing the BW Shop Hop Crossbody Bags I prepared last week for the upcoming show.

 

I've got a few new cork prints that I've been playing with, and I'm doing a few more machine embroideries for this lot. I'll finish working on them today, and then I'll be able to show you the completed bags.

 

My plan is to have a nice assortment of bags for the show I'm doing on the 24th. I'll also be listing some of them in my Etsy shop leading up to the show. My timetable is done, and my production is under way, so I'm right on schedule. More sewing today, as well as the rest of this week. I'm looking forward to showing you the newest pieces. 

I'm off to get my morning coffee, and then I'll be upstairs in the studio. I love this time of year. Now that it's getting colder outside, this is where I prefer to be...inside, looking out. wink

 

Sorry To Disappoint...

Brynwood Needleworks - Farmhouse Halloween Pumpkin

Tag and Bella were really excited about dressing up one more time to show you their second costumes today, but I had a little health scare yesterday, so I decided to take it really easy. I have no costume photos to share. Better safe than sorry. I know you'll understand.

I was able to light up their plastic "treats" pumpkin to share, but that's about all I was able to do . ugh

I've been busy with Destiny lately. I managed to do four new machine embroidery designs to make into new BW Shop Hop Crossbody Bags. I'd also intended to sew these (and a few others) up yesterday, but they're sitting for now, too.

I'm going to take the day off again today. I'm going to make sure I don't have a recurrence of yesterday. It wasn't fun at all, and I really don't want a repeat. I'll see how I feel as the day progresses, and perhaps I'll be able to play in the studio for a bit. I'll let you know.

Brynwood Needleworks - DnD Shop Hop Crossbody Bag

 

I completed two custom Shop Hop Crossbody Bags yesterday. This one is a Dungeons & Dragons themed bag, and is already on its way to a new home. (Of course, I'll do more by special order.) The DnD insignia was machine embroidered.

My second Shop Hop Crossbody Bag uses a Mickey Mouse licensed fabric. I don't advertise licensed fabric items, however, I'm happy to create special orders for those who want them. Understand that these items, made with licensed fabrics, are legally created as long as you understand that the end product is not officially licensed by the company owning the original copyright. 

 

The rights to the license exist between the fabric manufacturer and the licensing company. According to US Copyright law, that does not extend to the end user of the fabric, and selling of the products are allowed by the maker as long as they do not represent the item as sanctioned by the original company. (Thought I'd clarify for those with inquiring minds.)

This sweetie is also already spoken for, and will go to its new home along with a second item I'm working on now. It's so much fun!!

In The Near Future...

Brynwood Needleworks - Shop Hop Custom Insignia

 

If you're a fan, you know what this is. This one is a special request, and this badge will be machine embroidered onto a black cork Shop Hop Crossbody bag. I'm making a second custom in another fabric at the same time. First up though, I've got two crossbody packs. 

 

My day will be divided in half today, because we're taking Bella to a specialist. They're going to do x-rays so they can have a good look at her leg and foot to see if she's ready to shed her splint. We're praying that she can ditch the hardware, and also not need surgery of any kind. That's best case scenario.

If she needs a further procedure, they can get her in as early as tomorrow. I'll update her condition tomorrow. If you're so inclined, your best wishes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Productive Weekend...

Brynwood Needleworks - Shop Hop Bags - Dog Theme

 

I was busy all weekend, and man, did I get a lot accomplished! I worked in the studio to complete the commission for my client, along with five more Shop Hop Crossbody Bags in the same theme. All of them are lined with colorful paw print fabric, and of course, there's a lucky penny in each one of them. 

 

These bags are more than adequate for your largest cell phones in the front zippered compartment, and the rest of your essentials will fit in the main zippered section. Each bag measures approximately 6" wide x 9" tall. The black and natural bags are cork fabric, front and back. The bag on the far right is olive green waxed canvas. (I'm really partial to that one!) Each bag is $55, plus $8 postage. If you're interested in one, you can send a private message with your email address, and I can invoice you through my completely secure Square account.

In addition to sewing in the studio, Handsome and I tackled laundry; mowed the yard before the cold weather hit; I baked bread and chocolate chip cookies; and did a little housekeeping. Whew! Let's get started on the new week, so I can rest a bit!

Corgi Shop Hop Crossbody Bag...

Brynwood Needleworks - Corgi Shop Hop Crossbody Bag

 

This one turned out so cute! I couldn't love the design more. I mean...What's cuter than a corgi butt? I'm working on a number of these in different colors, along with the paw print embroidery I shared yesterday. 

 

These are a perfect size (6" wide x 9-1/2" tall) with a zippered front pocket; a top zipper closure; and a back slip pocket. I think this olive cork color, chosen by my client, is a great color, too!

 

I'll be putting this one in the mail today, and then heading back to the studio to work on more. On This Week's Docket...

Brynwood Needleworks - Fabric Selections For This Week

 

Yes, my friend. I'm still painting. Whew! This part of the project is taking me longer than I originally allotted. Plus, it's been raining. Have you ever stood in a pole building in the rain? Uninsulated metal roof. Even a light drizzle sounds like a deluge. It's so loud, you can hardly hear yourself think. I'm not complaining. Well, yes. I guess I am a little whiney. Sorry.

Let's get to the important part of today's post. I'm working on a number of commissions this week. I have two projects using the fabrics on the top half of this image, and two more using the fabrics on the bottom. They're all completely different, but they're going to be fun to make for my clients!

As it started raining again this morning, I'm going to stay inside and sew instead today. The hardest part will be deciding which fabric to pull first. (Hint: In order received, it will be one of the two Laurel Burch fabrics on the bottom, along with the black cordura below them.)

A Little Potter-ing...

Brynwood Needleworks - Black Cork with Machine Embroidery, plus lining fabric

 

First, let me start by saying that the porch project did not begin today, and it's a good thing. We got some terrible storms last night. While I trust the supports they're going to be using to hold up our porch roof while they demo and rebuild, I wouldn't have wanted to put them to the test against the strong winds and possible tornadoes we faced. 

We did have a huge branch separate from our old maple tree in the front yard, and thankfully, that tree is far enough from the house that there was no concern. We happened to be at Handsome's second last summer concert when the warning sirens went off. We were in touch with our dear neighbors, and they watched over the farmhouse (and Tag and Bella inside) until we got back home. We saw the branch on the ground as we pulled into our driveway.

I'll share photos as soon as there is something going on with the porch project. I want to be sure you get to see all the exciting changes right along with us!

As for my studio work right now...I'm "potter-ing" around on a project. This will be a BW Shop Hop Bag when it's done. I would have started and finished it yesterday, but I'm hoping to receive some hardware I ordered in the mail today. If it's not here, I'll have to go ahead on this one without it. Fingers crossed.

So, the concert was great, the storms left us with little damage, the farmhouse is still standing strong, and our pups are doing just fine. All is well here and - rain or shine - I'll be back in the studio today.

I completed this for a client yesterday. I have two more bags to complete for her (larger than this one), which I'll do yet this week.

Don't you love this machine embroidery? It's a new favorite for me. I think it looks great on the black cork fabric, but I'll also offer it on natural or navy cork.

One thing different from the pattern is that I've added a convenient, lined slip pocket on the back side of the bag. I think it's a nice, handy feature.

Brynwood Needleworks - Batik and Black Cork Fabrics

 

I have a custom order on deck next. I'll be making two different bags using this batik/cork fabric combination. I'm also making one of my new Shop Hop Crossbody Bags, for the same client, in cork with a lighthouse design on it.

When that order is complete, I'll be adding new Bryn Crossbody Wallets to my shop. I'm also going to make them in a slightly different style with a chain crossbody strap option. I'll show you all those when they're finished, but I have that custom order up first.

GREAT NEWS!! My email server is finally back up and running properly, and I'm receiving my emails again. Apologies if I haven't responded to a recent message. I ask that you resend if you need to reach me.

 

We've got people coming today to help move all the rest of the firewood out of our basement. (Seems unnecessary that it be there since we removed the wood burner last fall.) We have plenty in the wood shed already for our backyard firepit, so this wood is going with the people who are helping us get it out. 

I'm pretty excited about this, because our old cistern is currently filled to the brim with wood, and I have another idea in mind for that space. Once it's all cleared of the wood, I'll be giving it a good cleaning and paint; we'll add shelves, and it will become my canning storage area. All my canning supplies will go on one side, and all the canned goods will go on another. We'll only keep some of what I can in the pantry, and the rest will be downstairs.

First things first. Wood will be on its way today, while I'll be in the studio working on my commission projects. Then I can think about what's next...like the weekend!! Make it a great one!

A Day Of All Work And No Play...

Brynwood Needleworks - Convertible Market Tote - Closed

I finally finished writing the pattern for my Convertible Market Tote. Whew! First I had to make it, while I wrote out the steps and photographed it through all the construction. Then, I edited the images.

Once the images were edited, I could write the pattern...fabric requirements, cutting instructions, and finally assembly instructions with photographs.

It's a lot of work, but I finally finished it yesterday. That was the good great news. While I was busy at the computer, though, I got a text from my buddy, Kathy D., asking me if I was going to the Sit & Sew...yesterday.

Wait. What? Because I'm still having email issues, I didn't get the reminder email to my inbox. I had it in my calendar as a "maybe" date, to be decided later. I missed the email confirming that the meet up was on. Dang it!

While I was completing my work, all my pals were visiting and having a stitching good day at Lisa's house. I finished my pattern, but was kinda grumping because I wasn't there with them. 

My email is supposed to be fixed today...and you can bet I'll be making a follow up call to make sure it's back up and running the way it's supposed to be.

In the meantime, I'll be listing my new patterns up in my Etsy shop sometime today, too. There will be a new printable PDF pattern to make your own flock of Chicken Pincushions; another for the Shop Hop Crossbody Bag; and finally this one, the Brynwood Convertible Market Tote. 

None of the patterns are longer than ten pages, and are really simple to sew together. You could have the pattern, and a new project completed by the weekend! I'll have the patterns listed up by dinnertime today. And, I'm going to make sure my notification alarms are set for the next Sit & Sew, so I don't miss our play date in July!
