Done And Donated...

I thought you might like to see the second doll quilt I created for our guild
charity effort. Each year we create quilts for three different causes. We make
quilts for local Hospice groups, Headstart quilts for children and doll quilts
that are donated to the Salvation Army Toys for Tots program. These little
quilts are given with the dolls that the Salvation Army hands out for Christmas.

I made this quilt using vintage chenille on one side and a fishy fabric called
"Mermania" by Lorelei Designs. I love these fish. While I have more of the
chenille, I used all the "Mermania" fabric I had on this little quilt. Soft and sweet.
Each quilt measures 24" square...just perfect for wrapping up a favorite dolly.
I've called this one "Fish Bowl" because of the fabric oval I appliqued' to the
striped chenille side. I think that actually makes this quilt reversible. I did a
simple meander to sandwich the fabrics and batting together. Done and donated!

Today, I'll be in Ft. Myers with our friend, Ellen, as she undergoes eye surgery.
Prayers for steady hands for her surgeon and complete healing for her would
be greatly appreciated. I'll be there all day, so no time in the studio 'til later.

Have a blessed Wednesday, my friends. See you tomorrow.

Tuesdays With Tag - This Guy Doesn't Say Much...

Hi, Everybody!

Remember when Mom was movin' all that stuff from one room to another? Well,
this guy showed up during all that chaos and mess. I walked into the dinin' room
and there he was...sittin' there as comfy as you please with his tongue hangin' out!
I walked over to introduce myself and I have to admit, the guy seemed kinda stiff.
You know what I mean...a little standoff-ish. He didn't smell quite right either.
I asked him if he was from around these parts. Nothin'.
"Hey, Mom! Where the heck did this stick-in-the-mud come from?"
"That's Spuds, Tag. He's our nightlight in the guest bedroom."
"Doesn't say much, does he?"
"Nope. He's meant to light the dark, not carry on a conversation, buddy."
Huh? Is Mom kiddin' me? I'm thinkin' he'd be a whole lot more fun for me
if he could actually do somethin'. He seems a little borin' and it's just wrong
that he doesn't say nothin'. I'm tellin' ya. I've got a LOT to say about this guy!
pfffffttttt!

Well, I've been workin' on a new trick, so next week be sure to come back to
see what I'm doin' now. We'll have a little video for you. My producer just
called, so I'd better run. We start filming in a few! See you next week.
'til then...

Prioritizing...

I had planned to accomplish so much more...
but the weather was so perfect, and we even camped in the Flying Cloud...
in our very own yard on Saturday night! So, although I didn't finish a lot,
I did finish quilting and binding one of my two sweet, little doll quilts!
That's something, right?

We're looking for more of the same gorgeous weather today, so I will be
outdoors with Tag for part of the day. I'll finish that second doll quilt later.

Of course, I mean later today, so I can hand it in at guild tomorrow.
First things first...It's important to have priorities.
