Tuesdays With Tag - She Gave Me No Choice...

Brynwood Needleworks - Tag @ The Vet

 Hi, Everybody!

Well, I'd like to say that last week was a peaches and cream, but I'd be lyin' for sure. Not too long ago, I ran out a patio door at Mom's sister's house, and didn't realize there was a step. I fell on my face, came up yippin', and felt somethin' give in my shoulder.

I held up my paw - and I'm not gonna say I was cryin', 'cuz that's for sissies - but I was a little vocal because of the discomfort. Mom came runnin' out, scooped me up, and rubbed on the leg I was holdin' up, hopin' to make it feel better. I quickly sucked it up and ran around with the resident dog, Summer, but I was feelin' it the next day.

Needless to say, since then, if I run too hard with the Black Dog, I aggravate whatever I did to my leg. Last week, it was especially bad, so Dad called the vet he's takin' Boo to now, and made an appointment for me to go in for a checkup.

The place they took me to is called Compassionate Care Veterinary Clinic in Elkhart Lake, WI, not really too far from home. I was happy to see girls at the front desk when I walked in! If there are girls, I'm all in. wink

Mom and I were escorted into an exam room, and I was placed on the nice, rubber mat on the counter. I was content to hang out here until my new doctor, Dr. Prellwitz, came into the room. There would have been pictures of us, except that Mom was lyin' down on the job and didn't take any. You'd think she'd know by now. sheesh

Well, I really like this vet. Of course, he's not Dr. Stephanie, but she's 1500 miles away, and a little inconvenient for stuff like this. Dr. P is friendly and attentive. He got right to it, and did some creative manipulatin' and proddin', and knew he was right when I yipped. Man! He could have just asked, and I would have been happy to tell him where it hurt. He diagnosed me with a pulled tendon in my right leg and over my shoulder.

He and Mom talked about a course of treatment involvin' rest and medicine. That means I can't chase around in the yard for at least two weeks. Seriously? How am I supposed to do that? Mom is gonna have to keep me on a leash, I guess.

Then, Dr. Prellwitz checked a goopy eye that's been botherin' me. He said there were no foreign objects, and I probably just have a little infection, so I got an eye gel medicine, too. That's real fun. It's easy to put in and I'm a great patient for that process, but everythin' is blurry for a while after Mom puts it in my eye. Blinkin' doesn't help much either.

Brynwood Needleworks - Who's Behind That Door?

He left us alone in the exam room and said he'd be back with the medicines, so I just waited like a good boy. I could hear lots of voices on the other side of the door, so I was a little curious about that.

Brynwood Needleworks - What's That Stuff?
When the door opened, it wasn't Dr. Prellwitz. It was his sweet assistant, Miss Alisa. She's really nice, and was ever so gentle with me. She even used to have Corgis!
She showed me the gel medicine, and then put some in my eye. I was a good boy for her, and I was rewarded with a little treat. I showed her how I give a paw, too.
So, we left with some medicine for my leg to help any swellin' go down. I was thankin' my lucky stars that I don't need crutches! Can you even imagine? hee hee
Mom's had me on this regimen all weekend: no runnin', medicines once a day, outside on a leash, and if I get too rowdy in the house - kennel confinement. That's not punishment, though, 'cuz I like my little bachelor pad. It's workin' out pretty well. I'll be fit as a fiddle in no time.
So, there you have it. My week in a nutshell. Nothin' to worry about. I'll be fine, but if you wanna feel sorry for me and send treats, I won't turn 'em down, you know. I've gotta run go. Sittin' around is hard work.

I'll see you again in seven, 'til then...

Tuesdays With Tag - I'm Baaaack...

Hi, Everybody!!!
I'm back from Sarasota after my tooth surgery.
Mom took a picture of me with all almost all my favorite girls at the vet's office.

Miss Andrea is missin' and man, I feel bad about that. She is sooo sweet to me. She shoulda been in the picture, but she was on the phone takin' care of another patient's mom or dad. When Kessie was still around, she even took her home the night after her surgery (for eatin' ROCKS) to make sure she was ok when the clinic was closed. We really love her!

The lady on the end (wearin' pink) is Miss Barb. She's the lady who called Mom when they rescued Ceri (remember that little Corgi that we took to live in Minnesota?). Together, Miss Barb and Mom made sure Ceri had a comfy place to land...and a lovin', forever home. She helps other homeless pets, too.

All the ladies chirp and cuddle me when I go to visit them, and they all take really good care of me when I have to have stuff done. They're the best!
But my very, most favorite, wonderful...and pretty...lady of everyone at the vet's office is Dr. Stephanie (Lantry).  She's the bestest vet ever...and she's a Wisconsin girl, too! (Mom and Dad like that.) She's such a good vetn'ry that I look just as good and perky after my surgery. Even better, maybe! I mean, I don't have a broken tooth anymore, do I?

Actually, I got Mom to take a picture of it, but she said I couldn't put it in my post today. She said is as "gross". Hey! I'm a dog...and a boy! We love gross stuff. In fact, the gross-er, the better! She still wouldn't let me use it. Sorry. It was gonna be cool. I mean, like "dead frog" cool!

I am on antibionix and antiflamations and another horse-size-huge pill, but you'd be surprised how easy they go down with a little peanut butter (creamy, of course). I'm also havin' to eat canned (blech) food for two weeks until my stitches heal. It reminds me of cat food! Now, THAT'S gross! Don't worry, though. I'm sure I'll be able to choke it down. I won't even wait 'til I'm dyin' of hungry!

Time for me to run. I got lots of healin' to do. Mom, Dad and I are goin' on an adventure today. I can't tell you about it until next week, but I promise you're gonna bet really surprised! You better come back to find out.

One more thing...
Happy St. Patrick's Day, everybody!
Don't drink too much green beer.
and
Happy 14th Anniversary
to Son #2 and our daughter-in-law.
We love you like bacon!

I'll see you in seven. 'til then...

My Mind Is On Other Things Today...

Image by Mary Sparrow Smith -Hanging The Moon Fine Art  (not Tag)
I'm on my way out the door early this morning. Remember, Tag has a vet appointment to have his cracked tooth removed. Prayers, good thoughts and best wishes would be appreciated.

I trust Dr. Stephanie implicitely, but you know how I worry about procedures since Fezzik. I'll be staying up in Sarasota until I can bring him home with me.
Every part of The Bia Bag is prepped and ready for assembly. I cut all the pieces on Saturday and then fused and sewed all the components during the day yesterday. The lining pieces are all in one row, and all the exterior pieces in another.

It's not as large as I thought it would be. It really is a handbag, rather than a tote, but it's still going to be a nice size when it's finished. (It will measure approximately 10" tall x 8" wide.) The wallets I've been making will fit inside this bag, too. That was part of the plan.

I would have completed it last night, but I spent the evening attending a fabulous jazz concert instead. (Handsome on the drum kit, of course!) I'll get the handbag done when I get back home with my boy. He'll be back to tell you all about it tomorrow.

Tuesdays With Tag - Uh, Oh...

 Hi, Everybody!
Well, guess where I spent yesterday mornin'.
Yep. The vetn'ry's office. Mom took me to the Animal Medical Clinic
of Gulf Gate. That's where my doctor is, so that's where we go.

Here, I spent the last two weeks takin' care of Mom, and now she needs
to run to Sarasota to take care of me. It's just one reason why I love my Mom!
I know she's comin'. I can hear her on the other side of the door.
"Hey, Dr. Stephanie. Did you know what that tech did?"
"Let's just say I didn't appreciate bein' attacked from behind!"
"Have I told you how good you smell?"
"I'm really glad to see you. Mom said you need to check out my tooth."
She was mighty thorough. After checkin' my mouth, she made her diagnosis...
I've got a cracked tooth. The big back one.
See that dark line that runs from my gums to the edge of my tooth?
That whole section of my tooth is loose and is sorta like a flap. It's gotta go.
The technical term is that I have a "slab fracture" in that molar. Dang!

Mom and Dr. Stephanie talked a long time and decided the best thing is to
just yank that thing out. No crown or falsie for me. I actually think it will
make me look kinda tough. The teeth in front and behind it are ok. Only
that one is bad...and the only thing we can think is that I got a little too
aggressive with my formerly-huge, now-destroyed Nylabone. I don't chew
on anything else. I just love me those Nylabones. Dad says I'm cut off now.
I guess I can't really blame him. It's a good thing I've got insurance!
My appointment is scheduled for first thing next Monday mornin'. Great.
Just great. Guess I'll be a real charmer next Tuesday. I'll tell you all about
it when you come back to visit. I'm not promisin' to be too chatty, though.

We'll have to just wait and see how I'm feelin'. I guess I won't be chewin'
much between now and then, either. I'm gonna baby this tooth until Monday.
I'm just glad it doesn't show in my glamour shots. I'll still be a handsome boy!

Gotta run for now.
I'll see you in seven. 'til then...
