Tuesdays With Tag - Puppy Coat...

Hi, Everybody!

Well, Mom said it was gonna happen but I didn't want to believe she'd put me through that again! Boy, was I wrong. She actually tricked me by askin' Dad to take me for a truck ride, and you know I can't resist a truck ride.

We drove east from home, and next thing I knew, we were parked in front of Miss Joy's dog groomin' salon. The words Canine Design on the big windows said it all. It's a good thing I don't know how to spell naughty words.

"Come on, Tag", he said. "You like Miss Joy", he said. "It'll be fun", he said. Cow patties! I'm not fond of gettin' baths. I like bein' brushed even less, and oh, the insult of gettin' sprayed with girly, smelly stuff. You'll notice, she topped off her efforts with a yellow bandana! I do like Miss Joy, but really? A bandana?

So here I am in all my glory. A suave, debonnaire, twelve year old Corgi, sportin' a puppy fur coat-look. She even cut my toenails and the fur around them so I have "puppy feet", too. I'd like to know where I can find somethin' especially rank to roll in. Once I get that out of the way, I'll be much happier.

For now, I'll be walkin' around gettin' laughed at by the barn cats, giggled at by Carly, and further insulted by Bella. Perfect. Juuust perfect.

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...

Tuesdays With Tag - Ratty Old Shoe Brush...

Hogbarn Antiques Image

Hi, Everybody!!

This is the best you'll get for a picture this week. I started blowin' coat about two weeks ago while the weather was still nice. Mom brushed me then, but as soon as she was done I shook and was right back to my scruffy self. Mom said I look like a ratty ol shoe brush and that I need to be brushed again.

In fact, she's thinkin' about makin' an appointment for me to see Miss Joy in Plymouth like last year, but she knows I'm not done sheddin' yet. Plus, I'd really rather not. I come home smellin' like a girl, and wearin' some kind of cutesy scarf or tie, or who-knows-what she's got these days.

Mom said she'll brush me today, 'cuz she was hangin' out with her girlfriends yesterday. I guess I know who was more important... sigh So, I'm pretty sure the next time you see me, my fur will be parted down the middle and I'll look like some kind of dandy. I can hardly wait.

Today is election day, so don't forget to go out and vote. Too bad there aren't any Corgis on the ballot this year. I'm sure we'd win - paws down!!

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...

Tuesdays With Tag - I Survived!...

Gettin' Beautiful

Hi, Everybody!

Well, it finally happened. I got buffed and puffed...and I survived! It happened last Thursday, and I still smell like a dandy!

I have to say "thanks" to Miss Joy at Canine Design in Plymouth, WI. She used to take care of Mom and Dad's other dogs before they moved to Florida. She had a mobile unit and would go to their house to groom the Golden retrievers. The dogs loved her, so Mom and Dad knew if she was still in business, they'd ask her to do all of us again. She traveled around in that van for twenty years, but now she has a great storefront where dogs go to her for a change.

Don't Bother Me. I'm Concentratin'

Mom will groom me at home durin' the summer, but we don't have a table like this. Mom said she sure wishes we did! I can't wiggle around when I'm up here. (Believe me. I tried.) There's a restraint on my neck and my back end to make sure I don't fall down - or give Miss Joy any grief while she's workin'.

I got a brushin'; then a bath; then blow dryin'; and finally the brush 'n trim. Mom and Dad giggled when they saw my feet trimmed to look like a puppy, and she made my back legs look like fluffy drums sticks. I think I look awesome! My fur is really silky soft now, too.

All Done! Like My Tie?

When Mom and Dad got to Miss Joy's to pick me up, they saw that I wasn't wearin' a bandana. Instead, she finished off my session by puttin' a bow on it. Bow tie, that is. How do you like me now?

Miss Joy made my visit fun. She said I was a good boy, and it was easy, 'cuz she's awesome! I'm glad that I got to go to her for my groomin'. I'll go back there any time...as long as it's only once or twice a year. After all, we don't want this to become a habit, you know.

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...

Tuesdays With Tag - Oh, No She Didn't...

Do You Miss Me Yet?

Hi Everybody!

I'm sharin' a cute little dachshund picture with you today because Mom said I'm too scruffy to look at. In fact, I've been informed that I have an appointment for a "buff and puff" with a local groomer she knows really well. I've been there once before, but it was years ago. Mom usually does this job herself.

Mom said I look like an unloved teddy bear, and because she doesn't have time for all the brushin', bathin', and dryin' herself, she's farmin' the job out to someone she trusts. I'll be headin' to the spa in time to get the job done and have photos for you next week.

Mom's pretty busy this week, so we're gonna keep this short and sweet (like me. lol). So, wish me luck and hope this groomer doesn't do a number on me.

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...

Tuesdays With Tag - Spa Day...

Taggart with Miss Joy

Hi, Everybody!

I know you're gonna find this hard to believe, but Mom says I'm pretty scruffy these days.
She made an appointment for a spa day for Bella and me. I'm thinkin' peanut butter treats,
swimmin' someplace fun, chasin' a squirrel or two, and a big, fluffy dog bed for lyin' around.

Miss Joy and Moi

 What did I get?
Clipped toenails (the horror!), a bath, blowdry and brushin'. What's up with that?

When Mom and Dad lived in Wisconsin before I was born, they had a kennel and a bunch of dogs. Mom had mostly yellow Labradors and Dad had mostly Golden retrievers. Dad used to call Miss Joy who had a business called Canine Design and a mobile van for bathin' dogs. They always loved when she came to visit.

When Mom and Dad were in Plymouth recently, they saw that Miss Joy still has her business, but now she has a storefront where people take their dogs. Mom said we should go there, so she made an appointment.

Feeling Fresh Now

Look how handsome I look now! (I smell a little funky for my taste, but...whatever.) I really like Miss Joy, and she has the sweetest voice. Look at the kerchief she gave me to wear home. Man, I'm totally stylin' this look!

Boo's Had Enough

Miss Joy's assistant had Boo in the tub so fast that Mom didn't get a "before" picture of her, but here's how she looked after she got all "buffed and puffed". I have to admit, she doesn't smell as bad as she did a couple of weeks ago.

Back Home and Beautiful

Mom took our picture as soon as Dad got us home. She knows that I'm gonna go find somethin' dank to roll in at the first opportunity, so she's not takin' any chances at all. (I think Bella is makin' a statement in this picture.)

What Can I Say?

So, I have to share this with you before I close. A couple of nights ago, this is what I have to look at...the Black Dog's snorin' and yippin' in her sleep - with her tongue stickin' out. I was laughin' so hard I rolled over onto my back. It's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

Black Dog cracks us up. Really. I've gotta go. I need to catch my breath.

I'll see you again in seven. 'til then...
