Nesting...

 I continue to make progress on the Wisconsin applique' block.

Monday, I finished the nest, along with more leaves and stems.

It's really starting to fill out now. I love the eggs, which are formed

from a beautiful robin's egg blue batik. The fabric makes the eggs look

dimensional, and every little bit I add makes it come alive even more.

 I didn't get as far as I hoped by yesterday.  I wanted to be able to take

it to last night's guild meeting, but I'm happy with where I am so far.

I'm planning to have all of the components assembled by the weekend,

and then I'll transfer all the elements to the block background fabric.

I wanted to work on it again yesterday, but I had to have a little procedure.

 Afterward, I took some pain meds and slept the rest of the afternoon away.

I'll get back to it today and then show you photos when I transfer it to fabric.

(I'm ok, by the way, so don't worry.)

Tuesdays With Tag - Chasin' Monsters...

 Hi, everybody!

You might wonder just why I'm sort of...um...hidin' out...
carrying out my special ops from behind this tree today.

Well, it's kinda like this:

Yesterday, Dad was watching a football game. 

I like to watch with him. He's gets all excited and hollers 

at the tv, and sometimes I get to watch zebras runnin' around 

blowing whistles! So, anyway, I was lyin' in the living room 

chewin' on my favorite orange ball when all of a sudden

THIS MONSTER APPEARED ON THE SCREEN!

I FREAKED!!!

I jumped up and got between Dad and the screen. 

I didn't even have time to spit out my ball!

I had to protect Mom and Dad from this evilness!

I started by barkin' (Yeah. My mouth was full.)

The next thing I did was run around in circles while I barked

to try to decoy the beast away from my family. I'm really fast,

so I knew that I could confuse it so it would follow me and 

leave Mom and Dad alone. For some reason, it kept comin'

back, but I was relentless. I BARKED, and BARKED 

and BARKED some more!  It finally went away and I knew

that it was gone for good. I calmed down, flopped on the floor

and then continued chewin' on my ball, knowin' that our house

was once again safe and secure. Scarin' off monsters is exhausting work!

This should be today's headline:

CORGI SAVES THE WORLD...AGAIN!!!

I'm ready to rest now...at least until the next time Mom and Dad

need a SUPER HERO! ' til then...

NOTE FROM MOM:

In case you're confused by Tag's excited tale today, let me help explain. While Handsome was watching the Northwestern football team play (on tv), Tag was lying on the floor (also watching the screen). During one of the breaks in the action, the camera focused on the Northwestern Wildcat statue at Ryan Field. When Tag saw that Wildcat, he went nuts. We saw the whole thing unfold, so Handsome rewound the TIVO and brought up the statue again. The noisy reaction continued for as long as the image was on the screen. Tag was going to scare off that monster! Let me apologize for the capital letters in Tag's post. Yes. He was hollering...and barking...while he wrote his post today. (I taught him that capital letters equal shouting. He's so smart that he remembered. lol) I hope this explains his story. He'll be back next week, and perhaps he'll be calmed down by then.

Sunday Quiltin' Fun...

 Yesterday, I headed over to Sandy's Quilt Shop for a mini-workshop.

The owners, Kathy and Nora, asked me to give them a refresher

on how to get started with their own block to contribute to our

guild quilt project. Sunday is the only day that the shop is closed 

and they can play there uninterrupted, so I was happy to 

head to my favorite LQS and give my friends a private class.

 They chose the Iowa block to work on, and it wasn't long before they were 

tracing, fusing and cutting away. I shared the techniques with them that

we're using for this quilt so that all the blocks will be cohesive, and after 

only three hours, they had made great progress. They had  traced all of the 

elements for the design and were ready to proceed on their own.

 When I left the shop, they were going to assemble a few more 

components before stopping for the day. It was so much fun to 

 watch these two sisters working together. One automatically took on 

one part of the project, while the other found her niche doing another. 

I know it's not going to take them long at all before they have all the 

elements prepared and ready to stitch...and as with the others, this is 

going to be another beautiful block for our American Treasures Album quilt.
