Cold Day Needle Dancing...

Brynwood Needleworks - Purple Heart Brooch In Progress

It's still cold and the wind picked up again, so the best place was indoors needle dancing! So, that's exactly what I did. I sat in front of my favorite sunny spot and listened to the wind beating against the farmhouse, but it was nice and warm inside.

The Something Blue Bridal Brooches are padded out and waiting their turn, but I wanted to work on the purple heart brooch first. I started using a different fiber around the beads but didn't like it, so I removed all that work and started over. I'm much happier with the bright silver now.

I'll work on this some more today, and I'm also going to make the dough for cinnamon rolls. I promised a tray for Teresa when I see her at work tomorrow night, and in return I'll get a dozen of her beautiful farm eggs. The yolks are almost orange, and they're soooo good. I'm sure I'm getting the better end of the deal, and I know she'll say the same about my cinnamon rolls. That means it's a perfect trade, right?

I'm going to start today with a nice, hot cuppa, and then I'll turn my attention to my needlework. I can already tell it's going to be a good day. Wishing the same for you!

  1. It's going to be so pretty!
I love how you call it needle dancing.
That DOES sound like a good trade.
Stay warm, it's supposed to warm up by Sunday, let's hope.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
Thanks, dear. I wish I could take credit for the term, but I heard it from a fellow designer decades ago when we were both teaching at Rockome Gardens in Illinois. I can see her face, but do you think I can remember her name? I do feel bad about that. I used some of Teresa's eggs for breakfast for Handsome and me this morning. They were the most beautiful orange yolks, and tasted fabulous. I'm looking forward to warmer weather, but we bought more bird seed and suet today to make sure the birds are fed. Hope your appointment went well!
      Hugs,
      xoxo

  2. That heart will be so dazzling! What a lovely thing it is that you can each share/exchange items that are so greatly enjoyed by the other! I will be braving the horrid cold today as I need to go to the chiropractor and then make a quick grocery run...but who knows, I might second guess my grocery run, too 😁 Be warm and happy dancing!

    1. Hi Lois:
That's one of the things I really love about goldwork. Even with matte-finish fibers, they end up with a bit of sparkle in every piece. I love bartering with my friends. Both parties are always happy with the exchange. I hope your appointment went well. We went grocery shopping, and I came home with sale things to can over the weekend. I'll be canning beef roast, sliced mushrooms, Alfredo sauce, and cheesecake in a jar. Some are considered "rebel" items, but they're tried, tested and safe from the sources who have done them for years. I'm looking forward to the results! Thanks, dear.

    1. Hi MA:
We think so, too. I'll complete the heart over the weekend, but it will stay hooped until I complete the blue ones, too. That will be next week. I wish I could take adequate photos to show it's true sparkle. I'll make sure to get a video on a sunny day after I finish it into a brooch. Happy Weekend to you and RC. Stay warm.
