Gratitude...

Even though the discomfort pain continues in my knees, I'm grateful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I spent most of the day on the telephone setting up appointments and waiting for call-backs. By dinnertime, I had three new dates on my schedule. One with my primary care provider, another for an echocardiogram, and the last for a consultation with a new orthopedist who is in the same office as my last one. I needed to change doctors, as the one I was originally scheduled to perform my repair surgery does not do replacements.

My appointment with the new one will be to discuss whether or not I can do a partial replacement (less recuperation), or if a full replacement is needed. Either way, both of those surgeries will allow me to walk on both legs post-op, and my non-surgical leg is still reminding me that it's a necessary route.

There was no needlework yesterday, but it is on my agenda for today. Since installing the floor air conditioner unit in the dining room, I've lost my favorite stitching spot, so I need to come up with a new place to spread out with lots of light. I may just bring everything back up to the studio, which is okay, too.

What's on your agenda? I'd love to chat about something besides my knees. The hazard of getting...more mature...is that you tend to focus on the aches and pains, or the doctor's appointments. I really don't want to be that old woman. So, help a girl out here. Tell me about something fun in your world right now. Please.

  2. Glad you are making some progress with your appointments.
You will be better when all is said & done.
I am enjoying all of the fabulous waterfowl we have here, so interesting.
I keep stitching & crocheting to keep me sane!
I'm tired of sitting & laying around so much, it's not me.

    1. Hi Marilyn:
I bet it's wonderful seeing all the ducks and geese. Have you seen pelicans yet this year? Keeping your hands busy will definitely help divert you as you heal. Healing hugs, my friend.

    2. We have ducks & geese in early Spring, but they mostly stay down by the Marsh now.
We see Pelicans everyday! They are so pretty floating down the river.

  3. What's on my agenda today? Hmmm. Since I will probably take my Featherweight with us one our upcoming family trip, plus there's a quilt retreat shortly after that, I've pulled out the cutting table to do some prepping on projects. Also, the shipment with my replacement bowl for our DIY bird bath is supposed to arrive today. Take good care of yourself, Donna!

  4. Well, my (and my husband’s) world has been similar to yours. So a week ago Sunday I returned from a vending event, on Monday my husband said let’s go see the boys. I think my constant commenting on our(my) oldest he finally heard. So we left Tuesday for the Austin area. Our oldest is transitioning out of the navy and is on his last bit of leave before retiring after 22 years. So we celebrated his 40th birthday with him, the first since he was 18! We didn’t get to see the grandgirls but it was wonderful to have dinner at his home with our daughter-in-law and granddog on Friday and with both sons on Saturday. Now, I’m back to hubby appointments today, but some I’ll do some designing and maybe work on some watermelon pincushions while I wait. I’ll finish up my third beaded ornament of 4 this evening. With luck, aka if my hubby is up to it, late lunch/early dinner at the Ragin’ Cajun, so good. Someday I should have something besides gumbo and poorboy, but it is so good and we don’t get into town very much. The big plus is when I get home no cooking and dishes, just beading or stitching! Lots of love coming your way for swift action and great results on your knees! Love ya, bobbi

    1. Hi Bobbi:
Family time is always wonderful. I'm glad you could all get together. Watermelon pincushions? I'm intrigued. Your menu items sound delicious, too. What a great time. Good food, and needlework! The new process to get these knees handled begins Friday. Can't come soon enough for me now! Thanks, dear.
      Love ya back!

  5. For sure this getting older gig isn't for the weak. I hear in your 'voice' that you are relieved about the decision you've made and now it's a case of getting on with it.
As for what I'm doing - I finished the landscape I was working on (a gift for my oral surgeon who is retiring in December) and yesterday pulled the fabrics to start on another one. Sadly, with this heat, I don't dare turn on my iron to press them else a fuse blows. Can't run the a/c unit with any 'extra' power draws. It's a teeny bit cooler today so maybe I can turn the a/c off for a bit and.

    1. Hi MA:
No kidding. I'm doing my best not to walk around like Quasimodo these days. ugh You're right about my "voice". Now to get all these appointments accomplished so we can get on with it. I'll be heading over to your blog to see your latest finish! I understand your reluctance with the heat. My steam station iron pulls lots of energy, too...plus it throws off steam. (heat) We have much cooler weather now. I hope it heads to you, too, dear. Thanks for sharing.

  6. We have Vacation Bible School at our church this week, and I work with 4 & 5 year olds. It's a true blessing to share God's Word with these precious little children... and keeps me young at heart. 😊 I'm hoping to get back to some sewing for my grandchildren next week. And maybe some more work on downsizing craft supplies... maybe.

    1. Hi Lois:
Oh, how lovely that must be, dear. I love working with that age group. Their minds are like little sponges. I'm sure you're enjoying the time with them. I'm more determined than ever to downsize my craft supplies. I see the possibility of a single story home again some time in our future, and the less to move, the happier I'll be. Even if we don't move, I need to reclaim breathing room. I'm over-stuffed and need to do something about it. I'll keep after it until I win! Good luck to you, too. Thanks for sharing, dear.
