This is where I was when last I worked on my bluebird embroidery. If I recall correctly, I set it aside in November so I could get busy with Christmas projects. I brought my stand downstairs so I could stitch in natural light streaming in the dining room windows. I set up my magnifier, threads, and tools, and set about stitching. I stitched for nearly three hours, taking it easy before my work shift last night.
This was the area I was working on. Three hours of embroidery and at around 2 pm I sat back to critique my progress. I realized the colors I'd put into this area (similar to the male out of view above) was too bright. The female is the one flying into the image, and her colors need to be more drab than the male's.
Soooooo, I spent the next hour unstitching my work. When I was finished, she looked nearly like this again. One step forward...two steps back. It's okay. I'd much rather remove threads now than forge ahead and be unhappy in the end.
I'll work on her again today, but I've chosen some different colors. I'll settle back in and see how it goes, and then share what I accomplish on Monday.
Have a great weekend!
It's coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you aren't happy with it, you can fix it, or it will bother you.

Hi Marilyn:
DeleteYou know it. If we don't, it bugs us forevermore.

Must be something in the air in regards to re-doing things. I thought something I worked on yesterday was okay...until....I stepped back and looked at it from a distance and realized it simply faded into the background. Undoing, and back to the drawing board!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteTaking a step back always reveals where I might have done better. Sometimes I redo. Sometimes I don't. In this case, I really had to.

Sherryofcreateology: You will be so much happier with the muted colors you have re-selected. Your Bluebird family will be such a treasure when completed. Happy Stitching…
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteI redid her belly today. Much happier! Thank you, dear.

Great progress.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful project.
I'm the same way, something can be off by a thirty-second of a inch and I'm laying in bed and can't fall asleep thinking it might as well be off by two feet!! Got to fix it no matter what.
Shirley
Hi Shirley:
DeleteI know exactly what you mean. So, Handsome was looking at my bird in flight and innocently said, "She's got quite the wingspan." Now I'm comparing her to the male, and dang it. She's really bigger than the male, and at this point, I'm going with it because I have to. I have no option other than starting over and making her smaller. That's ain't happening. ugh Thanks, husband.
