I started my day hand mixing a double batch of farmhouse bread, and during it's first and second rise, I packaged my homemade brownie, cookie and corn muffin mixes. I was feeling quite accomplished already, and then I decided to make cinnamon rolls.
I made a double batch of rolls, and believe me, they're not all staying here! I'm going to surprise my overworked boss, Kim with some this afternoon adding a few extras for people I know will be at work when I drop by. (I don't work again until tomorrow.) I'm also taking some to Andy and Shelly when I drop off their bread, too.
The nicest part is that when I bake bread, I also make hamburger buns (believe me, they're not as big as they look in the photo!), and when the kitchen is finally closed after a full day, I can make a simple meal for Handsome and me using those rolls. Last night it was homemade hamburgers and American fries.
All in all, it was a very productive and satisfying day. Even so, I never got to sit down to work on my bluebirds, so that's my plan for today. Sit and stitch. Period. Well, except that I'll take a break early afternoon to deliver cinnamon rolls to my favorite boss. I'll need to stretch my legs by then anyway.
Happy May Day!!
No wonder you didn't get back to your bluebirds with all that baking. I have never even liked to have to cook and you do it all the time! Those hamburger buns looked quite tasty.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy:
DeleteBest laid plans, I guess. I realized in the morning that Handsome needed bread - he eats more of it than I do. Plus, I hadn't taken any up to our neighbors for a couple weeks. Then, "as long as I'm at it", and the next time I looked at the clock it was 4 pm (and I still had rolls to bake off). I did get to stitch today so that's good. More over the weekend. I'm ready to tackle it in earnest again. Thanks, dear.

Everytime you bake and share the pictures, I wish there were a "scratch and sniff" feature on my phone. Licking the screen doesn't work either. 😆 Well, now I'm feeling quite inspired and if I get done half of what you do in a day, I will consider it a successful day.
ReplyDeleteHi Lois:
DeleteI wish there was an instant ship option, because I'd love to share! I sure sleep well a night!

mmmmmm - yum!!! I can imagine just how wonderful your kitchen must have smelled while all those were baking. I'm with Lois - I want a scratch and sniff option!
ReplyDeleteHi MA:
DeleteHandsome comments on it whenever he has to go outside and then come back in. Being in the kitchen the entire time, I don't always smell the aromas others do...until I go outside and then back in. lol I'd love an "instant ship" option, so I could share it with you!

Sherryofcreateology: Oh My Goodness…On this very grey cloudy day I can almost smell the warm breads and cinnamon rolls. You Dear are so great at every thing you do! They all look very professional. Yum Yum…
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry:
DeleteThank you, dear. It would have been a better day for needlework here as I had a lot more light pouring in the windows. Today was the grey, rainy and cloudy day, but I stitched nonetheless.
