Tasty Beets...

I told you yesterday I canned beets  I bought them through Azure Standard, a source for organic and healthy products. I've been happy with everything I've received from them.

Once you set up an account, you can scroll through their selections, add to your shopping cart, and then you're advised of your last date to order to be included in the delivery. Your order isn't charged until that date, so you're free to go back and add or delete items from your shopping cart until that date. Prior to the cutoff date, you choose to either pick up at a location near you, or have the order shipped for an additional charge. My pickup is within 10 miles of home and close to the highway, so it's really convenient.

Monthly delivery trucks bring the orders to the drop off location, and you should be there within fifteen minutes or so (whatever the coordinator says) to get your order. I'm usually on my way back home with my order within ten minutes of the truck arriving.

They offer bulk quantities, as well as smaller packaging, fresh or frozen items, lots of pantry staples, household products, and health and beauty items. You might be surprised!

If you're interested in learning more about Azure Standard, or would like to place an order to try it out, you can use my link HERE. There are no signup or membership fees, and you're under no obligation to place orders every month. If you try it, I'd love to know what you think.

    1. Hi Charlene-
Start with just a few things to see what you like. I just ordered bags of roasted, shelled peanuts because I want to try homemade peanut butter. I also got the beets and a small bag of Meyer lemons. They also sell 1.5 pint canning jars which I purchased in my very first order. You also get a catalogue in your first order. Then you can really enjoy perusing their products. I marked mine up like it was the old Sears Christmas catalogue!

  3. I don't think that service is available here - too bad. Maybe one day they will expand into Canada. We once signed up for a fresh fruit/veg box through our Community Care organization and were assured that everything would be locally grown. Well, the very first box we got had bananas and oranges in it - neither of which grow anywhere in Canada (that I know of). We got corn on the cob in the middle of winter - obviously imported. It was expensive and not what we thought we were getting so we opted out.

    1. Hi MA-
I would have cancelled my subscription, too, under those circumstances. I'm so sorry you had that experience. We also have local co-ops that sell seasonal produce. Perhaps something like that is available for you?

    2. There are a couple local farmers that have monthly boxes available in the summer time but they're quite expensive and we've been leery on investing after our last bad experience. You have to sign on for the entire season so can't get just one to test them out. Luckily we have a weekly outdoor farmers market but the RC balks at the prices there too. He doesn't understand why, when their offerings are grown by themselves, they should be more expensive than grocery stores. He doesn't seem to be able to accept that stores have buying power and can get things in bulk, leading to being able to offer things more cheaply.

    1. Hi Shirley-
I found out about it from Florida friends. I'm having fun with it, but careful to only get what I know I'll use.
