No married couples yesterday, but these old friends shared a lot of laughter over dinner. We were all saying what a blessing it is for all of us to be able to spend time together.
We talked about classmates who'd passed in the last month, as well as a few that are pretty sick right now. It reminds us just how fortunate we all are to be in good health.
There were discussions about upcoming vacations, as well as reports on recent destinations. A few of us homebodies listened intently, but then agreed "there's no place like home" for us. Even so, we can't Wait to hear about our friends once they're back home. We'll look forward to that next month.
The next dinner date is set. We hugged and said our goodbyes, and all headed home. Until we see each other in April...

looks like a fun group!
ReplyDeleteSorry some have passed.

Hi Marilyn-
DeleteThere's always a lot of laughter. They're great folks. The losses are heartbreaking. The latest was a classmate I lived with in our first apartment. I lived with her and her fiancé in their first home (before they were married), and I stood up in their wedding. Her passing was especially sad for me. We learned another is in the hospital with terminal cancer. These people are all friends, and losing each one hurts. (We had a large senior class, too. Over 700.) Thanks for your sympathy.

It still comes as somewhat of a surprise that there are so many men that attend (this time they outnumbered the women). Men aren't always joiners in social groups so it's great to see.
ReplyDeleteHi MA-
DeleteI know. Cool, right? That's how much we were all friends over the years. Our friendships started - in some cases - in grade school. It's so great that we either stayed in touch or reconnected after all these years. I'm so glad, too.

It's so nice to see the regulars each time. This looks like such a great group.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to see that this group has stayed together and keeps going.

Thanks, Shirley-
DeleteWe all feel exactly the same way.
