I finished stitching my acorn brooch last night. You'll notice the drawing for the oak leaf is larger than what I made. I decided the first one was a bit overpowering, so I sized it down.
I got all my planned baking done, too. Bread, hamburger and hot dog buns, and a batch of molasses cookies. The cookie recipe was new, and I must have over baked them (even though I used the time called for in the recipe.) Handsome likes crisp cookies, but these are hard. I prefer chewy, so these definitely missed the mark.
I didn't taste the cooled results until after I'd sent some up to Shelly. I sent her a message apologizing, and she sent back a reply that made me laugh. She (graciously) said she considered them "dunkers". I promised to send up replacements when I go back to my old recipe.
Today's my work day, so I won't be stitching, but I am going to finish the ladybug this week.
One more thing...I've decided to run my shop sale one more month. No April Foolishness here. No code needed. Everything in my shop will still be 40% off, plus I'll add more items soon.
I'd better get ready for work. See you tomorrow!

I, too, prefer chewy cookies so I often "undercook" them. Anything not chewy must be "dunked" to be consumed. 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Lois-
DeleteChewy is always my preference. We actually threw this batch out. They were like hockey pucks a day later. Not even dunk-worthy!

The RC would happily have helped you eat the dunkers because he likes a crisp cookie. I, on the other hand, hear the word 'cookie' and it plays a siren song, no matter the texture.
ReplyDeleteDang - I got so excited over the thought of cookies, and I completely forgot to say how much I love the acorn (you can tell what my priorities are, can't you!!).
DeleteHi MA-
DeleteThese went from dunkable to useful for playing hockey. I pitched them...along with that recipe!
No worries about the compliment. Cookies come first. lol

It is just so gorgeous. The amount of work that goes into each of these is amazing.
ReplyDeleteBread and cookies are good too, but this acorn is stunning.
Shirley
Hi Shirley-
DeleteThank you so much, dear. They are a lot of work, but I love the finished results. The sparkle is worth it to me.

It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love Molasses cookies also.
Marilyn
Thanks, Marilyn. I guarantee you wouldn't have liked these. I'm going back to my old recipe!

Sherryofcreateology: This embroidered Acorn is simply EXQUISITE!!! I also love cookies…soft and chewy and warm from the oven! Goodbye to March.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry! I'm loving it, too. Chewy cookies are my favorite. These definitely weren't that! Grrr
DeleteHopefully we'll get nice, warm spring weather. We got a few teasers and then right back to wintry weather.
